Touched by an Angel: Black Like Monica

At the start of her new assignment, Monica finds Tess along the side of a dirt road outside of Aynesville, Illinois, appalled at the discovery of a dead black man. Following Tess’ return to heaven, Monica arrives in Aynesville and finds that the town is preparing for a Civil Rights day in which Rosa Parks is the special guest. After finding the sheriff to tell him what happened, Monica takes him and the Civil Rights Day committee to murder site, the majority of the committee decide to keep what they found from the town until after following day’s festivities are over. That night, Monica prays for a way to help the town and soon finds herself transformed into an African-American woman in human form. It is through the course of the day; Monica soon discovers what it feels like to live with fear. With the advice she received from Rosa Parks, Monica is able to give Sheriff McKensley and his deputy advice on how to speak honestly about the prejudices they have toward one another.
