Transformers: Robots in Disguise was an animated series originally created in Japan for the 15th Transformers Anniversary. It was called Transformers: Car Robots. A year later, Saban and Fox Kids brought the show to the western market, they dubbed it and called it Robots in Disguise. This show never had any ambitions of becoming a great franchise. The American market wanted it to attract the viewers back to the Transformers franchise, until they produce their own show (Transformers: Armada). The other problem about this show was that it was aired in time of 9/11 attack, and therefore it had to be heavily censured, because it contained a lot of scenes with destroyed buildings and gunfire. Some episodes were never aired in US, and some were aired only once. But it was aired in Canada and UK with no problems, and still was very popular among the fans.
Although this show haven't got any relations with other Transformers shows, it contains a lot of trivia about the original (G1) series.
In this show, the Autobots led by Optimus Prime, who live on Earth disguised as ordinary vehicles, have to stop the evil Predacons from stealing the Earth energy in order to rule the universe. Later in the show, the Predacons will get a backup - the Decepticons who will take the leading role as the villains, while the Predacons will remain mostly as comic relieves.
