Who is Will Traveler?
That's the question two friends from Yale grad school have to answer when they're wrongly accused of committing an act of terrorism in Manhattan.
What's nice about this series is that it's not only plot driven, but it's a good character study in the vein of shows like Lost or 24. The boys, both about 26, actually act like 26 year-olds. Neither of them are criminal masterminds, and while they both have some decent practical skills neither of them has the personality to commit the crimes they've been accused of.
Personality is one of the main draws to this series: its characters have it in spades. Jay, a poor law student, has the common sense and independent thinking skills to make him the "point man" of group. Tyler, a rich business student, is actually very generous and thoughtful, but his ability to create the larger plan is lacking. His ability to understand conspiracy and government harassment, however, is quite adept. Even the agents in charge are persons in their own right: Chambers seems like a man on a mission while Marlow seems to be trying to put all the pieces in place...and it's becoming clear she doesn't like what she's seeing.
There's also the lingering questions. For example, who was the porter, really? And why was he so interested in helping Jay and Tyler escape? Why would the FBI agents just start shooting at the boys when they weren't trying to escape the van? Are Carlton Fog's motives genuine, or is there something we've yet to discover?
And then there's the mystery of Will. Who was he? And why would he do something like this? It looks like it will be a long, strange trip before Jay and Tyler discover the truth...
