The bartender is attacking Sookie and Bill has to take it into his own hands and stakes the bartender. He spews blood all over her until he falls into a pile. Ginger, the woman Sookie just questioned, throws up and continues to scream. Eric tells Bill that he doesn't understand what he sees in humans. Sookie looks at him clearly shaken from that experience. Sookie goes to the bathroom to clean herself and Ginger is on the floor trying to clean up the remains of the vampire. She is in great distress and Eric tells the ID woman to glamor her when she is finished. Eric offers a True Blood to Bill and he asks him how he can live off of that alone. Bill says he doesn't really think about it. He says all it really is is sustenance. Eric tells him that if he is the poster boy for the mainstreamers then they are in trouble. He says that True Blood keeps you alive but it will bore you to death. Eric tells him that he broke vampire law by killing a fellow vampire for a human. Bill asks what he wants to do about it and Eric says that he will take Sookie. Bill says no and then asks why he would want her if he can have anyone he wants. Eric asks Bill why he wants her. Eric asks if he is in love with her and Bill says that Sookie must be protected. Eric tries to get Bill to admit that he is in love with her. Bill evades the question by asking if he had not killed the bartender would Eric have let his disloyalty stand. Eric tells him that what he would have done would not have been in front of witnesses and especially not in front of vampire witnesses. He tells Bill that it wasn't smart at all.
Jason and Amy are driving and he is telling her that they didn't have to kidnap him to get the blood. She says that this is the only thing she could think of where it didn't include Jason blowing the vampire. Jason asks if she has done this before and then tells her that he should have known that something wasn't right the second that she walked into his life carrying that big bag of crazy because anyone with a bag as big as hers has something in it that he doesn't want to know about. She tells him that he is sweet, but he has to mellow out. She turns on the radio to a calming song. Jason asks her what that hippie music is.
While Sookie is cleaning herself up the ID woman comes in and tells her to put different clothes on. She says politely that she is going to just dry her hair and be on her way. The woman tells her that she isn't going anywhere just yet because Eric and Bill aren't nearly done talking. She asks her if Bill is in some kind of trouble and the woman tells her that that is up for discussion between Eric and Bill. She tells her that in the mean time she should get out of the clothes she is wearing and tells her that she has vampire in her cleavage. Sookie responds with an ew and the woman tells her that she is beginning to understand the fuss that everyone is making over her. Ginger comes in and she has been glamored not to remember what just happened. The ID woman who is now known as Pam introduces them and Ginger tells Sookie that she doesn't need to be so scared, that they are really very nice there.
Jason and Amy are bringing the vampire downstairs into the basement. They have burned up his face from the silver. The vampire asks what they are going to do while she is draining him of his blood directly. Jason doesn't want to because he feels bad about it because the vampire was looking him right in the eye. Amy says that she'll see him when she gets back from her trip and she takes a hit of the blood. She immediately experiences euphoria and Jason tells her that she looks really happy. She invites him to have his own hit again and the vampire asks that he doesn't, but Jason does it anyway. Tara is with the voodoo woman and asks her what exactly she did to her mother. The woman says that the mind and body is just a manifestation of her soul and she tells her that her soul is sick. She tells her that her soul doesn't want to get ripped off. The woman asks how her mother is doing and Tara tells her that her mother is doing great, but she believes in that kind of thing--not her. The woman asks her why she came out there tonight if she didn't believe. Tara asks how much it will cost her and the woman tells her $799.95. Tara is shocked by how much it is and the woman tells her that what demon she has inside of her is much more dangerous than her mother's demon. Tara doesn't take this news very well and can't believe that she is worse than her mother. She tells her that she once found her mother eating her own vomit off of the ground because she didn't want to waste the alcohol. The woman tells her to think about it, but not for too long. She tells her that she can't afford to keep pushing people away. She tells her that her loneliness is spreading to her eyes and becoming who she is. Tara tells her that she is one hell of a sales woman. The woman tells her that when she is alone and looking in the mirror that she should count backwards from ten. If she can handle going all the way to zero then she is wrong. If she can't stand to be in her own company for ten seconds then how is she supposed to do it for the rest of her life?
Sookie and Bill show up at her home finally and she asks if he is sure that he is not in any trouble. He says it is merely a slap on the wrist and she tells him that Pam made it sound so much worse. Bill tells her that Pam was turned over a hundred years ago and she still acts like it is much more dramatic than it really is. He assures her that everything is going to be fine. They enter into her home and notice that there is blood all over. Bill looks up and then tells her not to. She looks up to find that her cat is dead and hanging on the ceiling fan. Jason and Amy are in the basement having about to have sex and she tells him that first they have to thank him for the gift that he bestowed upon them. They are tripping so hard that they are floating through all of nature. The vampire cries blood because of the situation he is in. Bill and Sookie are in bed and she tells him that every time she closes her eyes she sees her grandmother. Bill tells her that no matter what she is going to be protected. Sookie tells him that she doesn't really want to be protected because she feels like that helpless little girl all over again. He tells her that all of the trouble that she is in is because of him so her needing to be protected has nothing to do with her or who she is. All of it is his fault. She tells him that all of the trouble she is in is hers because she chose it when she chose him. She tells him she wants to blame someone else but what happened to her Grandmother and her cat is her fault. She'd love to blame him but if she did then she would be too angry to have him around and right now his face is the only thing that is getting her by. She tells him to leave it on her. They kiss and she closes her eyes and then sees her grandmother dead again.
Jason sneaks up in his gas mask and tries to scare Amy. She tells him that he is just like a little boy and tells him to come here and that she wants to show him something. She tells him to look and listen to the trees. He says that it is like the leaves are talking and she says that they are laughing and Jason says it is cause they are ticklish. He asks if they are still high because he doesn't normally speak like he is right now and that he is feeling a bit lightheaded. She tells him that he is speaking like this because he has expanded his mind and he is lightheaded because he hasn't eaten yet. She gives him an almond and she tells him how he needs to eat raw food so he has a cleaner experience on V. Jason can hear the screams of the vampire and he is bothered by it, he feels bad. She tells him that he isn't a person and Jason tells her that his truck isn't a person but he still fills it with gas and gives it oil from time to time. She asks him if he thinks that they should feed him now and Jason says that he's going to die without nourishment. She is apathetic about this and asks him who cares. He asks her if there is even a plan and she says that she does have a plan and her plan is that everything is going to work out. She tells him that when she's around him she feels something she has never felt before. She tells him that she is a person that a lot of bad things have happened to and she deserves this happiness. She then tells him that she loves him and he gets quiet and doesn't say anything back to her. He cracks open a beer and she asks why when all everyone ever looks for is to be loved--why do they run away when they find it. She tells him again that she loves him whether he likes it or not and that she is not afraid to admit it. He tells her she is right and says that he loves her, too. She asks that he says it again and he tells her that she only gets once.
Tara is looking in her bathroom mirror counting backwards and her mother opens her door without knocking. She asks her if she ever knocks and what if she was doing something private. Her mother says that she taught her that it was a sin against God and if she walks in on her that it is her fault. She tells her that Sam is at the door with flowers and then asks if she is sleeping with him. Tara asks her why she would jump to that conclusion and her mother tells her that men only bring flowers to women when they have already slept with the woman and are looking to do it again. She says that it especially applies to white men because black men are prone to grovel. She answers the door and asks what he wants. He wants to apologize for what he said and whatever he did to upset her. Her mother sticks her nose in and says that he just wants to have sex again. Tara walks out of the house to talk to him privately and he asks her if her mother is drinking again. Tara tells him that is her stone cold sober and she tells him that he should go and he asks her why. She says that she is too messed up for this. He tells her that she's not the most messed up person in the house let alone the town. She asks him what he thinks this is because they decided in the beginning that it would just be them having sex. He tells her that it is too late for that and she asks him if he's a masochist. He says that he isn't but believe it or not it reminded him that he was a social animal and he would rather deal with her nonsense than be alone. She tells him that here's some messed up sh*t for him---while he is standing there talking to her she is thinking that she actually has a demon inside of her that only some woman that lives in a bus by the swamp can get out by performing an eight hundred dollar exorcism on her that she can't even afford. She tells him to tell her now that he still wants something with her and he says not if it is going to be like this all the time but he thinks that they could actually have something. She says that they can't and she tells him to get out of there to save them both a lot of misery. He tells her that he'll see her at work.
Amy and Arlene are talking about her new engagement and Amy asks if she is going to have an engagement party. Arlene says that she doesn't know because her place isn't big enough. She says this loudly enough--on purpose--so that Sam can hear her and he says that they can have it there if they would like. He says that he'll cover the catering and the band but the alcohol and the incidentals are on her and Renee. She tells him that he is going to make someone very happy someday and he says that maybe someday he'll meet a woman willing to take that chance with him. Sookie comes in and he says good morning to her. She says that there isn't anything good about this morning. Jason is at work and Renee starts drilling where there are roots. Jason freaks out and jumps out of his truck and pushes Renee away from the drill and the drill almost got him. Jason talks about how everything is connected and Renee snaps on him. He tells him that he could care less about some tree and then asks him why he would almost kill his best friend over a tree. He tells him that he is about to get married and that there are people that count on him. Jason snaps on his other friend and co worker because he called him Jay.
Sookie is waiting on the detective and she tells him that she doesn't appreciate that while someone is trying to kill off her family the officers of the law are enjoying casual lunches. She tells him that they got back into her house again last night and tells him that he killed her cat and took the cat's head with him. While Sookie is losing it on the detective Amy comes over and says that she'll take his order and she should take a break. Sookie goes to take a break and Amy comes out to talk to her. She asks if she is alright. She says that sometimes she wishes that she smoked so she could sneak outside without someone knowing something is wrong with her. Amy says that she is sorry about her cat and goes to leave her alone. She says maybe she shouldn't have come in today and Amy asks why she did. She said that if she took off every time someone she loved got murdered it would feel like she never went into work lately. Amy asks her if she thinks that Sam would understand and Sookie says she guesses he would but what would she do with Arlene being busy showing off her ring she would be the only one waiting tables. Sookie asks if she was ever married and Amy asks if that is her way of asking what her intentions are with Jason. Sookie says sarcastically "right because right now I am all about protecting Jason". Amy tells her that Jason misses her. She tells her he told her about him hitting her and Sookie is shocked that he told her. She tells Sookie that she is surrounded by people who love her and hopefully someday she could be counted as one of those people. Sookie tells her that she is too good for him and she says of course she is--she's not dumb.
Jason speeds in to his drive after work and opens a beer. The television is on and they are talking about vampires. He hears the vampire crying and he goes down to see what is wrong with the vampire. He asks Jason to move him a bit because the chair hurts him a lot. Jason says he thought that vampire's didn't feel pain and the vampire tell him that when they don't feed that they do feel pain worse than any pain he even felt when he was alive. Tara goes to work and grabs her bartender apron and an envelope full of money drops out. She goes to Sam and tells him that she found an envelope of full of cash and wants to talk to him about it. He says that he will talk to her about it after work and says that he'll be in his office if anyone needs him.
Bill is at home playing golf and Eric, Pam, and a man named Chow. He is the bartender's replacement. They come to pick him up and he says he needs to go to the bar to tell Sookie that he is going to be gone. Chow asks him what his game is and Bill thinks he means what his motives were but Chow meant what game he was playing on Wii. He says that he plays golf and is seven under. Chow says that he is eleven under and Bill says that he liked the previous bartender (named Long Shadow) better. Jason is exercising in his basement and the vampire that they have captive asks if he is still hurt. Jason says that it went away and that he guesses that that is the perk of drinking his blood. He asks the vampire why he is a bit chubby. He says that before he was turned he led a very sedentary life. He asks him how a man that was so straight laced could turn into a vampire. He tells him that he had always felt like he was living a life that wasn't his. One day he came home to his wife crying like her whole family just died. He says that his son had had a fight at school and the kid suggested that he may be gay. Jason says that kids are morons and the vampire tells him that that was exactly the reaction that his wife wanted him to have and he didn't. He asks if his wife even had a clue and he tells him how could she when even he didn't. Jason apologizes and he tells him not to be sorry. There comes a point in life when you realize that everything that you know about yourself is all just conditioning. It is a real man that truly knows who he is. Jason says that it helps that he doesn't look that gay. The man says that most gays look like what Jason looks like. He says that the gays are supposed to look like that.
He goes on to tell Jason that once his wife left him and took his kid with her he went to a gay bar. He met a man that was even less attractive than he was with beautiful young men all over him. Someone told him that he was a vampire and he felt like that was the life for him. He said that it was a matter of time before he met someone willing to turn him. Jason asks him how it worked out for him. And he asks him to tell him. Bill and the other vampires show up at the bar and Bill goes back to talk to Sam. He tells him that he has been called away and he needs Sam to protect her while he's gone. He doesn't expect her to be keen on the idea but she really hates feeling like she doesn't have her independence. He says he is getting tired of him telling him who Sookie is. Bill tells Sam he knows that and he also knows how he feels about her and he doesn't like it but he's the only one he knows can ask. He is the only one he knows of who can protect her in his absence. He says that he will do it but only for her not for him. When Bill comes out they are handing out cards to Fangtasia. Pam goes to hand one to one of the guys that burned down the house. Eric tells her not to invite him and the man asks why. Eric asks him what he did to his arm. He then tells the bar that they should not let the woman who speaks for all vampires convince them that they can wrong them. They know who has wronged them and while they have not retaliated yet, they might.
Bill tells Sookie that he has to go because of him killing the vampire. She wants to come to testify for him. She says that he lied to her that he said everything will be alright. He tells her to be smart and let Sam take care of her while he is gone. He doesn't know if everything will be okay. They kiss and the other vampires tell him he must go with them now. Tara comes outside and Sookie is crying because she had to say good bye. Tara asks if she is okay and apologizes for everything. Jason is still talking to the vampire and they are bonding over the fact that Jason wasn't brought up by a man. He apologizes for the loss of his grandfather and his parents and Jason says that it wasn't his fault. He tells him that a boy needs a man in his life to teach him what it means to be a man. The vampire says that is the hardest part of it for him, that his son has nothing but women around him now and he needs his dad. Jason says that he will be alright and to look at him--that he turned out okay. When the vampire looks at him to say something Jason says not to glamor him that he was warned about it. The vampire tells him that he is too depleted to do that anyway and that learning to be a vampire doesn't happen over night any more than learning to be a man does. He asks if he is going to marry Amy. He says he doesn't know that they haven't been together that long but he can see her being the one. The vampire warns him about her and tells him not to. He tells her that she is a psychopath and that she is far more dangerous than he could ever be. Jason gets angry and tells him that that is enough. He says that he has to go get more beer but while he is gone he should keep his howling to a minimum.
Tara asks Sam if they can talk about and she says that she can't take the money and he tells her that she is keeping it. He asks if she really believes she has a demon in her. She says that she thinks that she has something inside of her that is scared, pissed off, mean, and f*cked up. He tells her that two years ago no one even knew that vampires were out there and who knows what else is out there. She tells him that eight hundred dollars is a lot of money and he tells her that people drink a lot in this town and that he is doing okay. She decides to take the money and she says she doesn't know how to ever thank him. Sam kisses her. Sookie goes into the kitchen and Lafayette says "interesting night?" and she says maybe it was too interesting. He tells her that there isn't such a thing as too interesting, just too dull. Sookie walks past the door of Sam's office and sees that Tara and Sam are kissing. She then walks out and asks where Arlene is and says that she needs to get out of there and asks Amy to cover for her. Amy asks if it is too dangerous to go home by herself and she says she is going to Bill's and drives off. Sam comes out and asks where Sookie is and he found out Sookie left. He runs out to his truck and then he gets stopped by the detective wanting to talk to him about the lie about the nudist colony. He says sure but he forgot something in the bar and that he'll be back and runs back in. Sookie is driving to Bill's and the dog runs off (the dog being Sam). He runs to check on Sookie and she invites him into Bill's house to spend the night with her. He looks away when Sookie gets undressed and she asks if it would make him more comfortable if she got under the covers. She wants the dog to hop up with her and he lays at the bottom of the bed. She names him Dean also.
Jason drives home goes downstairs. He brought him True Blood. He is slowly dying from not having blood. He gives him the blood. Sookie wakes up and Sam turned back into his human form and he was at the bottom of the bed naked and it scares her.
