Description: Charlie Harper enjoys his lifestyle. He is single, financially well off and doesn't have a care in the world. That is, until his brother Alan and his young son Jake come knocking at his door without a place to go. When Alan and Jake move into Charlie's Malibu pad, tension arises between the dueling brothers, but there is one thing they have in common - they both love Jake and want what's best for him. Charlie even learns to become an active uncle by attending soccer games and school trips, although his motives are usually to pick up the single moms.
Complicating the situation further are the other women in their lives including Charlie and Alan's narcissistic and emotionally needy mother; Alan's neurotic ex-wife; Charlie's busy body housekeeper and the manipulative and crazy neighbor next door. Despite it all, the two brothers manage to put their strained relationship aside and make this new family unit work, even growing up a bit themselves.
