Big Jim visits the town barber to get a haircut for his meeting with Rebecca., However, when red acid rain pours down, his plans are interrupted and Chester's Mill must find a way to survive what some believe is a Biblical plague. Meanwhile, Norrie and Joe go to the high school with the mystery girl and make two amazing discoveries.
Barbie enters his room and finds Melanie going through his drawers. She explains that she's looking for reminders and that she thinks she knows him from somewhere. As Julia comes in, Melanie admits that she doesn't know where she came from. As the girl leaves, Julia asks Barbie to be patient with her, but Barbie says that he doesn't buy what he thinks is an act. He tells Julia to be careful about bringing strays in, and Julia points out that he was the last stray she brought in. Ignoring her comment, Barbie says that he's going to the diner to participate in Big Jim's mandatory citizen registration. Joe: It can't be blood, can it?
Norrie: I don't think it's cherry Kool-Aid.
Rebecca: It's not blood.
Lyle: How do you know?
Rebecca: Well, blood doesn't burn.
Lyle: Yeah, blood doesn't usually fall out of the sky, but take a look.
Norrie: Feel like checking your messages? There's only so much fake-ass fan mail from wannabee Dome groups that I can read before I barf all over this wonderful piece of machinery.
Julia: I always thought Lyle was harmless.
Barbie: Well, under the right circumstances, anybody's capable of anything.
Julia: You really believe that?
Barbie: I believe that when things fall apart, people show their true colors.
Julia: So, what, everyone's bad in the end?
Barbie: Well, this is just the perfect time to be having a debate about the nature of man.
