Great Show - Familiar ConceptRating: 1 likes, 0 dislikes
This show has a police-procedural superhero-helps-the-police theme, a theme that is old and frequently repeated on television. That doesn't make this a bad show, just slightly predictable, but it seems like this is one of Poppy Montgomery's acting specialties.
Poppy Montgomery makes the show. It is not just that she is the superhero (perfect memory), but her character, Carrie, is the only one on the show that comes off as emotionally open and honest. In addition to solving crimes, she also is the center of most of the show's drama. Being emotionally open is unusual in police-procedurals.
Dylan Walsh plays Al, Carrie's partner and supervisor. He plays the tough as nails detective with a heart. He and Carrie met in college, lived together for years, and were partners for years before Carrie temporarily left the police force. Al wants to rekindle the personal relationship, but Carrie remains hesitant and they agree to just be friends, but their relationship adds to the show's drama. One of the common subthemes is Carrie gets into trouble and Al helps here get out of trouble.
