From This Day Forward - Recap

It is Charmaine and Nick's wedding day. She's outside telling Max that he did a wonderful job setting everything up. Tara is not excited about her parents showing up. She's not happy about her father giving her away and Tara is trying to figure out why they were in foster care. She also says she doesn't want to see her parents. The kids are in Kate's room blowing up balloons for the wedding. Marshall talks about Kate's experience in doing "favors" for gifts. They also talk about her boyfriend getting her a condo. She tells him she has to do what is right for her and start her own life.

Tara goes out to talk to Max and tells him she wants to hide. Her parents show up and her father ask about the Grunyon Run. Her mother says she just talked to his doctor, but they will be filled in later. In Kate's room, she is putting a bunch of things in a box--most of her "kiddie things". Her and her boyfriend start to make out and talk about her moving out. Max walks in on them and asks what is in the box. She says that it is for good will. He says it is good and walks away. Her boyfriend asks when they are going to tell them and she says she will soon.

Marshall and his best friend are in his bedroom. His best friend says that he wishes he didn't have to boycott the marriage but "breeders" take advantage of everything. Marshall thinks that he's a bit overdramatic. They hug and begs him to go to the wedding. He says he'll go with no intention of protesting. Tara is calling Mimi to apologize for being inappropriate where she was. Her dad just walks into the bathroom. He has forgotten why he has walked in there. He's talking about how he has made so many mistakes. He says he wishes that her brother could've been there for "Charmaine's graduation". She says that it is her wedding and they don't have a brother. Her father tells her that he is from his first marriage. He talks about how he wasn't well and she isn't well so it must be his sperm. She asks what he is talking about.

Marshall and his best friend are downstairs. Kate introduces her boyfriend to her brother and his "boyfriend". Her boyfriend tells them that he voted for Ron Paul and eventually admits to feel that men and women only should get married. That is when Marshall's boyfriend/best friend decides to leave. Tara goes to tell Charmaine about the information she just learned. Charmaine just wants to have a normal life and a normal wedding. She just wants out. That is when Tara turns into the 5 year old her. Kate's boyfriend is telling her how he wants to protect her from her abusive family. Kate has had enough and tells him that he needs to leave due to his "feelings" about her mother and family and essentially telling her brother that he isn't good enough to get married. He doesn't get it and she says she doesn't either.

In the house, Charmaine is chasing around Tara who has changed into "Chicken". Nick is getting angry and tells her she needs to do something about her. He snaps and says "how much am I supposed to put up with, I already agreed to raise your baby". When the walk begins Tara walks and dances as the flower girl. Her dad says "I am so happy for you marrying me". Her mother takes him over on the side to keep him away from them. Nick has snapped and said that there have been a lot of signs and the wedding is not going to happen. He walks out on her. Chicken goes back to Tara and says she doesn't know what happened, but it isn't her fault and it is her parents. She tells her parents that she went to meet Mimi and found out it was her foster mother. She wants to know why this happened.

Her mother tells them it is because they had a brother that had a lot of problems and had no where to go. She said that there were things that were going on and she needed to make sure the girls were safe so she found a place for them to be while she was finding a place for their brother to go. Tara tells her that this is not good enough because it could have helped her. She says she should have protected her. Char asks if he is alive and where he is. Tara tells them that it is the parent's job to protect the children. Her mother apologizes and hopes she can forgive her and then they leave. Kate and Marshall tell her she loves them.

Charmaine is outside eating cake and her baby's father shows up. He says he heard she didn't get married. He tries to cheer her up a bit. He asks if she could put the yoga pants on she likes and get drunk. She obviously can't and he tells her that she looks really pretty. He asks if she is going to get changed at least and she just doesn't want to. It seems like a possible romantic match for the next season. The kids are eating food and leaving to the house. Max tells Tara he is proud of her for everything. He wishes it had been them getting married today. He says what he would have done if they were. They end the night having a beautiful dance and the kids come outside and see them. Marshall asks Kate to dance and then they dance, too. Tara and Kate dance, Marshall and Max dance together too.
