Fresh off successful campaign appearances for midterm elections, Selina sees an opportunity to expand her role, but must first curry favor with Kent Davison, the president's icy senior strategist. Meanwhile, there are new developments in the staff's personal lives.

The episode begins with Selina giving a speech at an election rally in North Dakota. For a mid-term election campaign, she and her team are visiting various states. At the Chief of Staff offices in the West Wing, Jonah arrives and gives his boss the news that the exit polls for most states are looking bad. At the VP offices, Selina is also being given the bad news that their people are losing the elections in most states. Selina feels all this is the fault of the President, saying she personally did a great job during the campaign. Selina’s team gets her ready for a meeting with the President, who she is warned is in a really bad mood because of the election results. ..
