• 'Weeds' produces new high

Showtime's Emmy nominated "Weeds" drew a record number of viewers for its Monday (Aug. 13) premiere.

In addition to improving by 43 percent over its second season premiere, the "Weeds" launch also helped give a boost to David Duchovny's new comedy "Californication."

According to media reports, the third season of "Weeds" drew an estimated 824,000 viewers, its largest first-play audience ever, up from the 626,000 who tuned in to watch Mary-Louise Parker start her second season as drug-pushing suburban mom Nancy Botwin.
