Jane Horrocks explores the life of her maternal great-grandmother Sarah Cunliffe, a weaver in the Rawtenstall cotton mills, north of Manchester, in the late 19th century. She discovers Sarah had five additional siblings no one knew about, with one mystery brother emigrating to Australia. Jane is also intrigued to find she is related to wealthy mill owner John Horrocks, the `Cotton King' of Lancashire.
