When Will and Grace meet a stranger named Ned in the elevator, Grace accuses Will of being too nice to people he doesn't know. While Grace befriends Ned and invites him to dinner, Will makes some nasty remarks about him, but they soon discover that Ned's not the best company to keep. Meanwhile, Jack is having trouble at his new company, Out TV, because he feels he can't relate to his co-workers after they mock him about his Cher doll. Karen and Rosario lend some much-needed support.

Episode Quotes |
| |
Will: What's wrong with you?
Grace: What's wrong with me? You're the one that's being all nice to a stranger, fool!
Will: What's wrong with being nice to him? He's our neighbor.
Grace: Follow the logic Will. First we're nice to him, suddenly we're picking up his newspaper, then we're watering his plants. Before you know it, there's a fire in the building and we're the ones who have to make sure he "got out okay." I'd rather find out on the evening news, thank you.
Will: I'm not saying that I wouldn't trample over him on the way out... but while he's alive would it kill us to be nice to him? |

Episode Goofs |

Speaking of building problems, the apartment above them looks nothing like the apartment they live in. It still looks like the small studio we see on EVERY OTHER FLOOR. Will must have hit it big when he got his place. Not to mention the building must have run out of money when they got the "new elevator" because Ned's apartment # is a sticker instead of actual metal numbers. | At what point in time did the building get a new elevator? The buttons were always on the right side, but now they've moved to the left. |

Will states that they don't even have people they like over for dinner, and says that Rob, Ellen, Joe and Larry have never been over for dinner. However, they have Rob and Ellen over for dinner in Pilot, Alley Cats, and Someone Old, Someplace New. Grace also has Rob and Ellen over for a disastrous dinner in Guess Who's Not Coming To Dinner, where they make it pretty clear that they prefer Will's cooking.
