1 :01x01 - Legacy (Apr/19/1990)
After receiving a letter from there late father's will, estranged brothers Brian and Joe Hackett reunite on Nantucket Island to run Joe's airline, Sandpiper. We also meet Helen, who runs the airport lunch counter and grew up with Brian and Joe, Faye, who works for Joe, Lowell, the airport maintenance man, and Roy, who runs Aeromass, the rival airline.

Fay meets a man that has been waiting in the airport for a few days, and she finds out he is one trip away from finishing a two year solo journey around the world. He doesn't want to complete his journey because he believes if he does, he will die. Meanwhile, Brian convinces Helen to wear a sexy dress to her symphony audition to become a concert cellist for the Cambridge Orchestra.

Brian discovers his ex-wife Carol's flight is laying over in Boston, and he leaves her a message to meet him on top of the Prudential Building. Even though Joe is against it, and there is a thick fog, Brian takes Sandpiper Air's only plane and flies himself to Boston. Helen and Joe also fly to Boston because they believe that Carol will not show.

Brian, Helen, and Joe plan a trip to Boston to see a Celtics game, but Joe has to cancel because Roy reschedules an airport committee meeting. Joe later learns that the game was canceled and then he begins to wonder what Helen and Brian are doing.
