Episode Quotes

Lindsay: Welcome to our day off.
Jacobi: Yeah, like you'd know what to do with a few free hours.
Lindsay: For your information, I had plans. I was gonna go for a run and I was gonna... clean my apartment. Shut up.

Lindsay: Where were they?
Cindy: Err, sweater drawer.
Lindsay: I checked that this morning.
Cindy: No, there was a false bottom, pretty intricate one, she must've had it specially made. And-and, don't feel bad, you would've found it eventually.
Lindsay: Gee, thanks. Now, tell me why I shouldn't arrest you for murder?
Cindy: Erm, because that's crazy, Theresa was, like, my idol.
Lindsay: Maybe you were angry at her because she didn't pay as much attention to you as you wanted. Maybe you were here to steal her story, that's what you're doing now, right?
Cindy: Whatever Theresa was researching, she died for it. The story dies with her... I can't let that happen.

Lindsay: They named the new Lieu? (Warren nods) It's not you? (Warren shakes his head) What idiot did the idiots in charge give it to?
Tom: This idiot.

Lindsay: Jacobi has 22 years on the job! More citations than I can count! He sees it, he's... grizzled! Do you know how many bad guys you have to catch to get that grizzled?!
Jill: A lot.
Lindsay: That's right! A lot! What has Tom done?!
Claire: Other than reorganise a city wide gang task force and a huge drug bust?
Lindsay: Blah, blah, blah! Jacobi deserves to be the new Lieu.
Jill: Why would Tom take the job? Do you think he's maybe exploring the idea of getting back together, it's possible, things change.
Lindsay: Well, I care about my job the same amount as I did when we were married, that hasn't changed.
Claire: But, Tom didn't leave you because you cared about your job, he left because it was all you cared about.
Lindsay: Why are we friends?
Claire: Because I always tell you the truth just like I did when I warned you that whole thing about the Kiss Me Not Killer.

Lindsay: Walter James... you're under arrest for pissing me off! Twice!

Lindsay: Don't be an ass, Tom.
Tom: "Don't be an ass, Lieutenant." Lieutenant.

Lindsay: I'm just saying, the promotion...
Warren: Should've been mine, I know. Now, will you stop dragging me and my ego into a situation that's really about you and a much more vital organ.
Lindsay: Why are we talking about my heart?

Tom: If I say yes, will you agree to that talk?
Lindsay: I will pencil you in ten minutes past a woman is dead.
Tom: Oh.

Lindsay: Yeah, thanks for the reminder, Tom.
Tom: "Thanks for the reminder, Lieutenant."

Lindsay: I need a search warrant for Miles Van Aiken's car, restaurant, his house.
Jill: Yeah, based on?
Lindsay: I don't like the cheating bastard.
Jill: Sweetie, you know I love you like a knowingly, pushy, emotionally stunted sister but I need probably cause.

Jill: I didn't tell you that Tom asked about you.
Lindsay: Whatever.
Jill: You can stop pretending you're not still in love with him anytime now. Come on, you haven't even had sex with anyone since he left!
Lindsay: Says who?! I could've been... secretly whoring around the past two years. And, besides, I am picky... and I'm busy... and I have to solve a murder now.

Tom: Fine. If after you do your job, you come into my office, you sit your ass down, we talk, no excuses.
Lindsay: Fine. (walks off)
Jacobi: You planned that.
Tom: Halfway through. Was fun, huh?
Jacobi: Yeah. Hoot and a holla.

Cindy: Do you three have some sort of a thing?
Claire: We're friends, we share information.
Cindy: What? Like a club?
(Lindsay, Jill and Claire say no in unison)
Cindy: Not a club. Got it.

Tom: Never mind what I was gonna say. It's, err, it's irrelevant.
Lindsay: Okay. (walks out then walks back in) What's irrelevant?
Tom: Just... I'm getting married.
Lindsay: Oh. Is she a cop?
Tom: Kindergarten teacher. Her name is Heather.
Lindsay: That's great. That's great. Err, congratulations... Lieutenant.
