Louisa Atherton (Kerry Armstrong) is 49-years-old and to date has lived a privileged and superficial life. When her wealthy husband Jack drops dead in the arms of another woman, Louisa thinks things can't get worse - until she discovers that he's left her bankrupt. Louisa is forced to go back to her tiny home town, Rainbow's End, with her tail between her legs. As she re-negotiates her relationships with her prickly mother Minna (Julia Blake) and recalcitrant kids, she learns to understand herself for the first time in her life. Louisa also comes to realise that her small town's history will play a vital role in her future.

: Louisa Atherton is married to a wealthy man, Jack. That's good. He dies in the arms of his mistress. That's bad. But things get worse...she's left homeless and bankrupt. This leads her to recognize that Holly need a supportive mother who has the strength to see them through. Louisa possesses only one asset: an old run-down shack at the edge of town. The place has a mysterious past...it was the home of a gold miner's widow, Mary Kelly, who was murdered by thieves who were looking the the gold nugget said to buried on the property. It is believed that Mary's ghost still haunts the old shack. Louisa has plans, though. She's going to knock down the shack, build anew, flip it, and be back in the city living the high life. But even the best laid plans will go awry.
