Facing the Enemy takes viewers back to Spring 1943, as the Battle for the Atlantic rages and an Axis victory seems inevitable. German U-boats patrol the ocean picking off ships, destroying much needed supplies and inflicting heavy casualties. The one hope the Allies have - production of newly developed sonar equipment - is moved to Victory Munitions when the British factories are bombed. Then, in the darkest hour of the war, a new and disturbing menace appears - a saboteur among the factory workers. Bomb Girl Gladys Witham, a fiery young woman from privilege, is covertly recruited by Allied Intelligence to find the traitor on the new line. But she must spy on her best friends, co-workers and fellow agents, calling into question everyone and everything she has come to trust.
Season 2 begins with Gladys organizing a fund-raiser to help Canadian POWs after she hears a Chinese-American man talk about the horrors of war. Also: Bob and Marco learn the truth about Lorna's pregnancy; and Betty has mixed feelings about an old friend who resurfaces.
A surprise visit from a soldier makes Valentine's Day special for Gladys. At the same time, Marco and Bob exchange words over Lorna, while Kate relies on her gift of gab when dealing with her dad.
Gladys travels with Marco and his mother to an internment camp in hopes of aiding Marco's detained father, while Lorna focuses her energy on impressing the girls at the factory. Elsewhere, Betty and Kate attend services at Leon's church; and Vera discovers the perks of being helpful to soldiers.
An unexpected guest turns Lorna's dinner party into a nightmare. Meanwhile, Gladys distracts herself from thinking about James with a game of cards; and Betty has difficulty coming to terms with her past.
Betty has a bad feeling about a new arrival at the plant, while Gladys goes off on a surprise-filled adventure with Lorna's son Gene.
Gladys discovers who has been paying her hotel bills; Lorna comes to a realization about her son; Betty meets a female soldier; and Marco considers an offer from an old childhood friend.
Lorna fears for the safety of her sons; Gladys isolates herself; and Betty has an unexpected reunion with a soldier.
Gladys spends a night out with the ladies dealing with unwanted attention from a mystery man and an inquisitive redhead. Elsewhere, Lorna persuades Kate to volunteer with her at the hospital where Shelia works; and Betty's budding relationship intensifies.
A female journalist shines a light on the wage gap between men and women at the factory; at the same time, Gladys has an encounter with Clifford; and Kate has a tough choice to make when she's offered a singing job at a burlesque show. REELZ
Lorna takes dance lessons and becomes smitten with her instructor; Kate and Ivan explore the terms of their engagement; Vera misconstrues Gladys showing interest in Marco as a budding romance; and Marco's mother is wrongfully accused of stealing from Witham Foods.
Gladys feels conflicted, having to choose between her patriotic duty and her girlfriends; Lorna has difficulty adjusting to changes in her family's dynamic; and Marco doesn't know where to turn after learning he has put his faith in the wrong people.
In the series finale, Kate's happiness over her engagement and reunion with her mother is overshadowed by the investigation into her father's death; at the same time, Gladys receives an unexpected offer from Clifford. Elsewhere, Lorna is faced with some serious decisions; and Betty makes a grand romantic gesture.
