“Simon Cowell” who has produced many hit shows in the 2000’s also produced “Celebrity Duets” that now makes its’ way to the Philippines. This Filipino version of the new hit reality show that began on 11 August 2007 airs on the GMA network every Saturday night. The co-hosts of this series are actor, comedian and singer “Ogie Alcasid” and the beautiful actress and singer “Regine Velasquez”. This version has the same format as the U.S. version in that it takes professional singers and teams them up with actors, actresses and other very well known personalities to see if they can perform good enough together to be voted on to the next round of the competition. Some of the professions that the non-singing personalities are from in season 1 include an actress, a cosmetic surgeon, a eventologist, a fashion designer, a beauty contest winner and law student, a ramp supermodel and a talent manager. In all there are 8 professional singers and 8 non-singing celebrities who are team up together.
