“Dance Revolution” is a 30-minute long game show, dance competition that began airing on Saturday, 16 September 2006. It is the last show in a 3-hour long block of children’s shows airing from 8 AM to 11 AM EST as a part of the “KOL Secret Slumber Party on CBS". This block of shows replaced the old block of shows titled “Nick Jr. on CBS". This new group of shows are produced by DIC Entertainment (Diffusion, Information Communication) in conjunction with CBS TV and AOL’s newest internet site KOL (Kids on Line).
The series is based on the very popular video game “Dance Dance Revolution” previously known as “Dance, Dance, Dance”. The series is co-hosted by DJ Rick and the all girl house party band called the “Slumber Party Girls”. This group of 5 teenage girls were put together after a long exhaustive search by music producer Ron Fair who helped Christina Aguilera get her musical career started. This teen-pop group released their debut album/CD of 15 songs on 24 October 2006 titled “The Slumber Party Girls”. The girls begin every episode of the show with a song and then DJ Rick introduces the teenage dance contestants and the judges. The teens are paired up into groups they call crews and they first perform their own dance routines. Professional dance choreographer Leah Lynette then teaches them all some new dance routines. They then perform again and the winners chosen by the judges get to return the following week to compete again against a new crew.
