David Tench Tonight

David Tench Tonight

David Tench Tonight is a television talk show created for the Network Ten in Australia. The series features David Tench, an animated fictional character as host. The name "Tench" is a partial anagram created from the name Channel Ten.[1].

Tench has conducted interviews with various celebrities including Pat Rafter, Nick Lachey, Ronn Moss, Nelly Furtado and Ella Hooper [2].

The audience of the show is made up of the general public who are able to attend the show being taped - it is unclear at this stage how the set looks in the studio and how the guests "interact" with David Tench.

The identity of the performer behind Tench had been unknown and it was the producers' intention to keep it secret[3], however some sources initially outlined who they believe the actor behind Tench to be[4][5].

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
International Casting Service & Assoc. Pty Ltd reveals that it is actor Drew Forsythe portraying the David Tench character. (click Forsythe's profile to list his credits)

Putting it up against the super successful Footy Show did not help its cause, and it quietly disappeared from TV screens after only around 15 episodes. It was interesting, however, to see the celebrities who were able to carry the joke (eg. Mark Holden) and those who were not. The show was the creation of Andrew Denton. Read more
