The series depicts the early years of Elvis Presley on his road to fame. Before the glory days of Las Vegas and Hollywood, there was a younger, more vulnerable Elvis. That's the Elvis portrayed in this critically acclaimed but short-lived television series. To play the lead young singer on the brink of fame, executive producers Jerry Schilling and Priscilla Presley chose Michael St. Gerard, who was surprised to find himself auditioning for the former Mrs. Elvis Presley. Many of the people involved in the production were close to Elvis.
