This episode was aired live, as was the rest of the series, and towards the end of the first part of the show John Lydon became to get a bit irate with Frank and David and he threatened to smack David. When the second part began, Lydon was visibly missing from the sofa and the audience began to sing "Johnny's going home!". It was later revealed that during the advertisement break Lydon began to swear at the audience, then threw a lit cigarette into the audience and headbutted the female producer Janet McBride and was thrown off the show. It was reported in The Daily Mirror with the headline; It's Fantasy Footbrawl.
Frank Skinner said in his autobiography that when he first met Sylvia Kristel she said to him "I'm Sylvia Kristel and I'm a film star, what do you do?".
John: The only Tory I tolerate at the moment is Mr. Clarke!
John Lydon is referring to Kenneth Clarke, the former Chancellor under John Major in the Tory government of 1992 to 1997 who were voted out by Tony Blair's Labour Party.
Frank: Some people have tuned in for Darling Buds of May!
At the time, Darling Buds of May normally aired in the slot that this show aired in.
At the end of the show Jeff Astle sings Blue Is The Colour whilst dressed in a Fulham kit. He is parodying David Mellor, who was previously a Fulham fan but switched teams to Chelsea in the 90s, Blue Is The Colour is the signature Chelsea song.
John Lydon shouts "Arsenal!" numerous times when he arrives on the show, this is homage to the team that Lydon supports. He also shouts "Overmars, he's Arsenal!" and he is referring to Marc Overmars who played for Arsenal and Holland at the time.
