Filter was one of the 13 original series to debut with G4. The original focus of the show was video games, and each episode covered a different genrve, such as sports or RPG's. Each week a new theme was chose and then viewers chose the top ten to be featured on the show. The top two games would be put in a Filter Face-off, where the winner is reavealed. Some of the most memorable shows were top ten Final Fantasy games, and top ten platformers of all-time. After the purchase of TechTV, Filter was revamped, and focused on other things besides just video games. The "Tech Tossup" was added where new gadgets such as cellphones and mp3 players were covered. Besides video games Filter also began to cover other media such as movies. In December of 2005 as a part of it retooling of the network to cover a broader male interest and not just video games, Filter was cancelled. Running for four years and making 116 episodes, it was one of the only shows to have been on the network since its launch. In April of 2006 it was announced that the show would be returning, revamped, and retooled, with hot new host Beth Ostrosky. It is speculated that this new itteration of Filter will have much more of a pop culture spin to it.
