Hmm. I'm not sure the old, more like odd couple we necessarily family, but they almost certainly were some people who embedded Betty with good moral values, i.e., brought her up. That's why they came to "haunt" her at the end - because she didn't live up to what they taught her... At least that's how I interpreted it... ^o^ But then again, a David Lynch movie is open to hundreds of interpretations... That's why they're so brilliant.

They kinda look creepy at end of the movie. I think I missed out on a lot of clues through out the movie. Therefore, I am planning to watch it again for the third time when I'm free ^o^ . Hopefully, this time I'll find the answers I'm looking for.
