Not that I'm saying movies shouldn't make you think, but I'd take Snakes On A Plane over another boring straightforward book adaptation like Narnia and Potter any day of the week. It's a fun idea, it's a fun movie, if you don't get it, noone is forcing you to watch it, but it does mean people who do get it have to stomach the "serious" movie buffs from boring us to death with their crass attitudes.
First of all I loved Mars Attacks!!! That was a true farse and a classic. Second of all, I'll take a well made book adaptation over a crappy 'b' thriller anyday.
I'm sorry we don't 'get the joke' but maybe we just don't think it's funny.
And you say this despite not remotley seeing the movie first. It's amazing how people act this way, it really is.
And yeah, pi cking a serious book adaptaion proves me right about these kind of people detracting the movie, choosing not to lighten up and go to the cinema for popcorn reasons, or to see an action hero in an absurd action peice. What happened to the days of watching Predator I or First Blood Part II? Hypocrites. The lot of 'em, you've all seen those films, which have NO PLOT, NO PURPOSE, and call them modern classics, yet when Snakes on a Plane has the potential to be just that, only aware slightly of it, you take it apart like a bandwagon that's too dated to take seriously anymore.
