Well I guess I'm the only one in the world who didn't know he was popular.

Seriously though, I think people are catching on to the fact that Marvel Movies (or any other super hero movie) are box office sensations.

Yup. Just like Catwoman, Elektra, Daredevil, and the Hulk (2003).

From MSN:
Quote:
Four other films based on Marvel superheroes also were announced: “Thor,” due out June 4, 2010; “The First Avenger: Captain America,” May 6, 2011; “The Avengers,” July 2011; and “Ant-Man,” which is in development but has no release date.

You're right; apparently anything Marvel is gold in the eyes of producers.

The only reason I have any interest in the Ant-Man film is because of the rumours that Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg will be involved. That almost guarantees me being there on opening night

Forthcoming Marvel Flicks.

Venom would be pretty wicked. I would like to see a Moon Knight film, as I'm a big fan.

Leave Venom in peace, he's not strong enough for his own spinoff. It would only become some kind of second rate horror film. Haven't they ruined hischaracter enough in Spiderman 3???

This is related to what Javi was saying..but, I don't think the general population knows much about Iron Man as they do about Spider-Man. He's just not as recognizable of a character/brand. But obviously, the film proved to be a success. I just don't think he's nearly as well-known as super-heros like Superman, Batman, Spider-man, etc. (I do realize that Superman isn't a Marvel comic, but you get my point, I hope).

I will probably just wait for this to come out on DVD, not that I really want to anyways, but everyone seems to like it, so I will check it out someday.

I'm sure the average American knows who Iron Man is (although you might have to let them know you're talking about the superhero, not the song or even provide them with a picture). He was created way back in 1963 and is quite recognizable in his armour. He obviously doesn't have as many fans as Spidey but he's known by enough average movie-goers. The numbers are proof enough.

Don't forget about Batman.

What you've never seen Spiderman 2 or 3? Spiderman 2 was the best of them all in my opinion., you should watch it.

I absolutely hated the first. What makes you think I would like the second, even in the least? Same director, same actors, villains I like even less than the first. It doesn't stand a chance.

Second one is a drastic improvement. Better villain (despite your reservations about him, he is better handled than Green Goblin), plot and overall, better realised characters make it one of the best superhero films around. It doesn't hold up too well to repeat viewings though

Try to pretend the third one never existed. You'd see why I'm wary of a Venom spinoff then. He may be the strongest point in the film, but in a movie that sees Peter go emo and go all Saturday Night Fever on us, that's hardly a compliment

I'll stick to my Spidey comics. The movies are enjoyed by enough "fans" already, so I don't think I'll be missed.

I agree with Mark, although I for one loved Spiderman 3.

I'm afraid a Venom spinoff will be like the Elektra spin off.
