Words cannot describe how pumped I am for this film
Still have to wait til the 24th though
Still, as it's out this week in some areas, I felt it was worth its own thread! |

Good call on the thread. I nearly made one the other day, but I ended up posting this in the "Best Batman" thread.

I'm not a big Batman person, but I'll probably end up seeing it... I didn't see Batman Begins though. |

Anyone get advanced tickets?
I didn't, seeing as I haven't seen the first film yet (not that I need to or really care). I might just check the film out because the joker aspect, and to see Heath's last performance. |

Well, last BIG performance. Even though that movie will probably be big too, just not..BIG. But I thought he was replaced in that, but I guess not. Which is good.
I think I'm going to this on Saturday. I was gonna go tonight at midnight, but I am so tired, plus, on Saturday, you don't have all the insane people. |

I'm hearing nothing but good things about this. How good? Oscar talk. It's predominately in regards to Ledger's performance, though I heard Richard Roeper contend the film itself for a Best Picture nomination. As film in general, it's compared to Heat, and as a sequel, the Godfather, Part II. And I've the exact words "near masterpiece" uttered on more than one occassion. With the summer we've been having, it seems a lot are going to have to revise their best comic book movie lists, and I highly suspect The Dark Knight will be seated at the Number 1 spot and will not be dethroned anytime soon.
It has only three possible detractors: people who have gotten sick of the onslaught of comic book movies (though all have been well recieved), those who still have a hard-on for Jack Nicholson's Joker (which wasn't all that great to be honest) and the 2 and half hour runtime. Hopefully, the high praise will still bring people in the masses. Given this possiblity, I'm not sure when I'll see this. I don't like to get in with thick crowds thanks to the idiots that tend to dock in them, but my habit of getting into theatres to see movies during the earliest showings, where they're likley to be thinner maybe the solution. However, it's going to be painful to avoid the temptation to peek at spoilers in the meantime.
The point: the movie looks like it will live up to the high praise. The Joker looks to be filled with equal parts psychopathy and menace; and the film clearly has an exploration of duality, thanks in part to the presence of Harvey Dent, whose fate in the film is foreseeable if you're even vaguely familiar with the comics. |

Just got back from the midnight showing about two hours ago. So f***ing good that it's unbelievable. I knew nothing about the film at all, except that it was the sequel to the great Batman Begins and that it featured the Joker. What else do you need to know?
I don't want to give away any spoilers or anything, but the film will keep you on the edge of your seat. Heath Ledger is amazing, as is everyone, but you look forward to seeing him any chance you can because he's so entertaining. I forgot who he was to be honest after the first couple scenes. He was just 'the Joker'. Great job on everyones' part on the movie. Definitely gonna have to get a bootleg of this. Supported them in theaters, so I don't care if I'm sort of ripping them off by buying one.
I was pissed that I drank my entire large soda (at $5, what a robbery!) in the first ten minutes of the film, so I had to leave ten minutes later only because I thought my bladder would explode had I not done so. Believe me, I ran out of the theater and back! |

That's best categorised as "tough crap" because Nolan has specifically pointed the Penguin out as a difficult character to gel with the realistic world of the new films. I'm not going to argue. The last thing we need is this series spiralling down the cartoonish path the other films did. |
