Not for Ireland though
I've watched the dvd twice already anyways. I won't have time to watch it again until after my first three exams |

Oscar `Knight'? Batman rises to serious contender (AP)
| Quote: | LOS ANGELES - As the box-office bankroll climbed for " The Dark Knight " last summer, the Hollywood consensus was that a posthumous nomination for Heath Ledger was the Batman blockbuster's best Academy Awards hope.
Now that critics have gotten a peek at all the last-minute Oscar contenders, "The Dark Knight" has emerged as a solid contender for best picture and best director for Christopher Nolan . |
| Quote: | | With about $1 billion in worldwide theatrical grosses, "The Dark Knight" arrives on home video Tuesday, two days before the Golden Globe nominations , where the movie could gain some Oscar momentum if it scores well there. |

as a matter of fact, I DO like DC comics, as I am a huge fan of the Supernman saga and Smallville, and Batman has always been one of my favorite DC characters, BUT, that (plus heath's death) does not make the movie any better so don't think that I'm being prejudice because "I'm a spiderman fan". I have my nickname for other totally random reasons |

Yeah well, The Dark Knight is still generally considered the best superhero film of all time But hey, it wasn't everyone's cup of tea and that's still cool if you're not as crazy about it as some others
There'll be oscars alright, but asking for Best Picture is asking a lot from the academy |

I think Iron Man was a bit better, but I loved both it and Dark Knight. |

Smallville is not Superman. Smallville is Dawson's Creek with superpowers.
I like Ironman a lot but The Dark Knight was deeper in a lot of ways. I can't actually see it winning though.
I would be cool, if improbable. I can however see Heath winning, and not just because he died. |

Really I can't see any other actor in the "Best Supporting" category getting the kind of buzz Heath did. It was such an iconic role and yet he took it on fearlessly and made the part his own. Not easy...
I've heard Josh Brolin is quite good in Milk and has already won some awards for his preformance. But if Ledger doesn't win, it'll be seen as more the academies reluctance to give awards to genres they deem unsuitable (which is why TDK doesn't have a chance of winning Best Picture). Cinematography should warrant a nom, Wally Pffister is considered highly by his peers and has been nominated twice already. I'd love to see a Best Director nom too, watching Nolan on the Special Features of the dvd was inspiring, the man is so committed, he's a visionary
And of course TDK is better than Iron Man. What are you people insane |

I don't think the acting, besides Heath, was that great in the film. So I don't think it will win Best Picture. It might get nominated for stuff, but I don't think they'll get any big awards, like Best Actor (which Heath wouldn't get, since he is a supporting character), or Best Picture. I think they'll get a bunch of smaller stuff, like Best Special Effects or something. It's not because it's a superhero movie- The Dark Knight was pretty good, looking at other superhero films, but I personally think if you take away the hype, and forget about the Joker (which is hard, considering it's a key role) that is it just your ordinary good film. Not bad- not even close, but not the masterpiece everyone says it is. There are other films which I saw which I thought were an overall better picture (the acting, the compelling story, director, the cinematography, the music and sound). |

hmm... I thought Bale was good, while Eckhart and Oldman were exceptional. One of the best ensembles I've seen in years.

Overall as an ensembles, the acting was good. Ledger definately stole the show and overshadowed everyone else. With that said, I don't think any of the other actors did enough to get any nods for their acting, but overall as an ensembles they were great. |

Sorry. But Spider-Man is the best super hero of all time. No contest. Not the movies, but in comics. I didn't really care for any of the Spider-Man movies actually... |
