I've had a few days to digest this, as the ramifications will definitely impact my life. Some may know, some may not but The Thing is, far and above, my favourite film.. ever. It's brilliant. The special effects are better than the CG crap you see in films now and it came out in 1982! The plot is amazing and very suspenseful. It was even spoofed in South Park.
Anyway, like I said I've had time to think about this and I've embraced it. It wasn't easy. I respect John Carpenter for not making any sequels or remakes or anything throughout the years. I've come to terms with this for a number of reasons. 1) A prequel makes more sense than a sequel. 2) The screenwriter, Ronald D. Moore, has a very impressive list of credits. 3) The director is Dutch. 4) It's been 27 years. This isn't like the Saw series where there's a crappy sequel every 12 months.
So now begins the waiting period, as new pieces of information surface and I gobble them up as quickly as possible. |

Being a Battlestar fan, I'm interested in what Ron Moore can bring to the the table. But I definately reserve my judgment until I've seen it. I do like Carpenter's version of The Thing. |
