Apparantly, Alienware is going to start packaging PCs with Blu-Ray drives (adding an extra grand to the price; ouch). Alienware is now owned by Dell, if I'm not mistaken, so that's, like, one degree of seperation from the leading distributer of home PCs in the US. Possibly the world, I don't know. That and Apple's support should hopefully help it come out on top in the "format war."

Lord . . as if Alienwares weren't expensive enough. They have a mid-range $4,000 laptop. ^o)

I'll admit it's for those who need new ways to spend money. I couldn't see paying more than a thousand for any computer, personally. Not even a laptop.

On another note, Andy Serkis' mortgage advisor is the brother to the head of Ninja Theory, who is making Heavenly Sword. Upon seeing a trailer for the game, Serkis asked to be a part of it. Andy's now in charge of performance capture, casting, and is helping with the writing. His actual image is to be used for King Botan, a villain.

They're also going for a heavily cinematic, Hollywood feel to the game.

Xbox is going to soon stop providing backwards compatibility on the 360 for original Xbox games. According to Moore: "Nobody is concerned anymore about backward compatibility," Moore said. "We under promised and over delivered on backward compatibility. Yeah, there are a few games...It's a very complicated thing. Developing software emulation for this thing is very complex work. . . . More are coming...but at some point you just go 'there's enough,' or 'let's move on'...people aren't as worried about a game being backward compatible," he said. "I like to think we upheld our end of the bargain [with backward compatibility]." I guess that means that any games that haven't made the list of 200 or so may never make it at all.

Of course, not everyone is concerned about backwards compatibilty, as he stated. But I definitely liked it (I still had Omega Boost, Bust a Groove, and Crash Team Racing). I still can't understand why Burnout 3 and NFL 2k5 haven't made the cut though.

Off to play some GH

Meh, there were only 2, maybe 3 games I still wanted to play when the 360 came out. The post-launch slump is over. There are plenty of 360 games now, and more on the way.

I don't think that's something that should be so easily written off. What about those people for whom this is their first Xbox system? They should be able to play the older games too. Unless, of course, you don't think they're worth playing. Every other system has an emphasis on backwards compatibili\ty, and I think it's an enormously useful feature.

I know Microsoft's abandoning the original Xbox as far as releasing quality titles for it, but they shouldn't act like the games released on it don't matter or are unimportant. A person with a 360 should be able to pop in an Xbox game and play it.

Gamecube much? ^o)

Anyway, is it really that hard to leave your Xbox hooked up? Not really . . .

Forgive me. Every other next gen system. Game Cube and Xbox obviously aren't backwards compatible, so it'd be silly to try to make an argument about what just ONE console did last generation.

And it's not hard to leave them hooked up. But you have to understand that not everyone is like you. Whenever I get a new system, I've always sold off my old one. I have no need to keep both systems at the same time. There are many people who do this, either to remove clutter, or help finance their new investment. Not everyone's a collector who keeps every component they've purchased.

I think backwards compatability is a very nice feature. I think it might also be smarter for the new gamers.

I agree. That would kind of suck for new Microsoft fans. Like you said Ryan, you switched from PS1 to Xbox. If one were to switch from PS2 to the 360 (for some odd reason), they'd be pretty mad that they couldn't play the good original Xbox games Microsoft actually had. I know I'd be. Another reason why I think PS3 will be better than the 360.

Microsoft screwed up on the backwards compatability feature. Come on, I don't want to play Barbie on my 360! I want to play PSYCHONAUTS!

Finally finished Indigo Prophecy; I can't wait to play Heavy Rain now.

Oh, and I tried playing guitar hero on our tv in the basement . . . . darn near impossible. Apparantly, due to upscaling and stuff, there's a slight (as in a few milliseconds) delay visually, when you plug in a non-hi def input. So, you usually won't notice this (when I was playing Burnout, didn't sense a thing). But the second I plugged in Guitar Hero, it was like I had no idea what I was doing. And supposedly DLP (which is what we have) is the worst of the bunch . No rockin' out on the big screen, I guess :@

Just something I'll have to keep in mind when I get mine. Although, in theory, if played through a ps3, all the conversion should be done before-hand, eliminating this problem.

Also, here's an interview shining a little more light on Assassin's Creed.

*note: he persistently praises the power of "next gen consoles," so you 360 peeps might still get this game yet. But it will at least be native to PS3, which is a good thing. I think TH: Project 8 is native ps3 as well, if I'm not mistaken.

Pac-Man is now on Xbox Live Arcade!

I'm going to have to burn Weird Al's Pac-Man song onto my 360. Lol, I'm probably the only guy here who listen to Weird Al. Dare To Be Stupid Bitches!
