Blech, kind of turns me off getting the new TR if that's the case. The old aiming and shooting system wasn't the best but it worked and it at least felt responsive.
All of the cars felt more or less the same to me. Then again, there wasn't much to feel aside from a few rumbles from the controller every now and again. Even the motorbike didn't feel any different than the cars. Probably the only thing I noticed is that it's easier to go offroading with the Prototype than any other car I've stolen so far.
I also remember some weird ass glitches happening where I'd have a jeep or police SUV and I'd go plowing into a line of those striped yellow wooden roadblocks at full speed and the car would just crash into it and not even go through. That must've happened to me 3 times already while trying to get away from cops. It's more annoying than the glitch where the car disappears after I start the second mission.
And grouse all you want but as far as I care, the GTA car controls (maybe even the very first Driver game but I haven't played it in a long time) are the tightest I've ever played with out of all those open world free roam games out there. I already know how much you don't agree but graphical inferiority aside, the controls just plain feel the best to me. I can really feel the speed and handling differences between sports cars, basic sedans, and huge tanker-like vehicles on the different surfaces and I just haven't had the same experience with any other game yet. The only vehicles I like more in JC over GTA so far are the boats.
|Most games do come with harder difficulty settings, but for all I know that could just make bullets come at you faster and do more damage. It would have been nice to see them try to duck or cover, but then again the AI in Tomb Raider was never that special.|
Don't have the new TR so can't compare, I just know that the enemies from 1-4 & Chronicles at least gave me some problems and made me try harder to stay alive. There was no real urgency or need for me to at least attempt to keep myself alive because I could just run past everyone, as slow as Rico moves, and barely take a hint of damage or even have them really bother shooting at me. I know it's just a demo, but jeez...I really hope they just gave us the "Very Easy" version or something.
|Edit: You like the music as much as me? |
*shrug* didn't really notice the audio in general during the gameplay. I remember some cheerful island music, that's about it. I also remember hearing Rico speak one line out of 4 or 5 playthroughs and thinking "the f*** was that noise?" I didn't even realize he could talk.
