I just watched National Lampoon's Vacation, his first movie. I didn't realize at the time that he had died or even that he had written the movie.

I recently saw him on the bio channel doing an interview about the Brat Pack. Less than a week later he drops dead.

Oh my gosh, do you know how often that happens to me? That happened to me with Lou Rawls, Michael Jackson and Charlton Heston!!! It's like you can't talk about them or they will die!

I'M A DEATH WISH!!

I once mentioned an old wrestler's name to my brother, then picked up the newspaper and saw his name inside under the obits.

Les Paul, the inventor of the solid bodied electric guitar has died at the age of 94, of complications from pneumonia.

Paul also helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll with multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the tracks in the finished recording.

I also learned that character actor John Quade died Aug. 9. You may not know his name but you'll recognize his face.

God bless Mary Jo Kopechne. Perhaps now she can finally rest in peace.
