An extremely famous name in song writing has passed away...Ellie Greenwich died of a heart attack today at the age of 68.

She is credited with penning such hits as:
Chapel of Love
River Deep, Mountain High
Be My Baby
Da Doo Ron Ron
Leader of the Pack
Look of Love

25 gold and platinum hits in all.

Now a third well-known name has died today, this time in crime author Dominick Dunne, father of actor Griffin Dunne and the late Dominique Dunne (Poltergeist), who was murdered by her abusive boyfriend.

Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein died. 36.

He was the one who survived the plane crash last year with Travis Barker and was also engaged/married to Nicole Richie at one point.

The WORLD'S oldest person has died. Gertrude Baines, who was made famous after voting for Barack Obama in the presidential race last year. Gertrude was born in 1894, that's 115 years ago for those who skipped math class.

The new oldest person in the world is Japan's Kama Chien, at 114.

Larry Gelbart, writer for the MASH TV series (first 92 episodes) and movie along with such other classics as Tootsie, Oh, God! and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, has died of cancer.

I didn't recognize Paul Burke's name, but I certainly recognized his photograph! I always liked him.

It's pretty amazing he lived as long as he did. Diagnosed in January of '08 and the median survival from diagnosis is only three to six months.

Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary fame, died yesterday at the age of 72 after a battle with leukemia.
