I use a Win7 Gadget called called tvmonitor (http://jmd-software.net/page/TvMonitor.aspx)

The last couple of days, it appears to not be working anymore, getting 404 errors. I believe its searching via the services.tvrage.com url (that is what the code seems to indicate).
Did something change so that this no longer works? Or is this just temporary down?

Yeah just popped in to report same, really disappointed if this doesn't work again as it's an incredibly useful app and by far the best way to keep track of your favourite shows to know when new episodes air.

Looks like the error message on the server is showing "Service currently unavailable due to maintenance."

That is promising. Might mean its being looked at.

It would be great if someone could update us on what's happening and when the apis will come back

I wrote my own show renaming tool, which stopped working recently. I checked the url that it would normally look-up, and found the same message. Hopefully, it will be working again soon, as this is the only site I trust for TV show data.

I'm also a (minor) contributor. So I'm a little biased. =)

i use tv monitor too. feel lost without it

I am using Google chrome extension TV WatchList (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mkjcjbkackpifmmpmhjfojjindefnffk). Its not updating or i am not able to add shows. Can you please help.

First of all I would like to apologize for the lack of information regarding this.

Secondly I can tell you that unfortunately the api will be down until at least Tuesday, probably Wednesday.
Some problems with our database servers is the cause of this.

Oh yeah, you don't have to worry about us removing it, in fact I believe a completely new version of the API is in early development.

I'm not involved in the project so that is all I know though.

Not to worry - it'll be quite a while before the new version will go live. Way before that happens, we'll post an announcement about it and ask API users for feedback on the new version - and for quite a while after that we'll keep the old version running.
