That's a good thing! Especially with the injuries that have been mounting up for Chelsea.

Speaking of internationals, all of Chelsea's starters against Aston Villa have been called up for their countries except Joe Cole, and that is more than likely due to his recent injury.

England: Wayne Bridge, Ashley Cole, John Terry, Frank Lampard.
Germany: Michael Ballack.
Portugal: José Bosingwa, Paulo Ferreira, Deco.
France: Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda.
Serbia: Branislav Ivanovic.
Czech: Petr Cech
Nigeria: John Mikel Obi.
Ivory Coast: Salomon Kalou.
Brazil: Alex.

It's when players come back from internationals with injuries or worn out from travelling & miss vital games that the real effect of internationals is felt

How did everyone's countries do in the World Cup qualifying?

USA beat Cuba 6-1 and have guaranteed a spot in the final hex grouping (along with Costa Rica and probably Mexico). Germany beat Russia 2-1 in one of the best matches I've seen in recent memory. The England game was great in the second half, first was a snoozer.

Ireland beat Cyprus but only by one goal. We always seem to play badly against the Cypriots

Nice to see Rooney playing so well for Engerland again. Must be the skinhead haircut

Why should club teams suffer for what happens in internationals?

It could be worse. The MLS doesn't even get breaks for internationals. Teams like Houston had people playing in the qualifiers, and they had MLS matches, and they had CONCACAF Champions League matches.

Well, its Chelsea v Liverpool next weekend, but first we have the small matter of the Champions league this week. We face Athletico Madrid who lost 1-2 at home in the Madrid derby yesterday, but Torres won't face his old club because of injury, but Luis Garcia (ex-Liverpool) might play.

Who do your teams play guys?

A walkover for Chelsea against a Roma team who seem to have dropped a tier to second or even third rate...
