Where are you going with his mother's maiden name? I thought it was already assumed that she was a Fey descent, given is godmother's very personal relation to him (haven't seen her for a while). And under the circumstances of the war, I agree, the Merlin is out there a lot laying down some smackdown on his own. But to be in charge of that rigid, unwavering black-and-white group of people that nearly killed him and is apprentice...unless he cound incite some kind of radical revamping, I just don't see him taking that throne, but things are definitely point in that direction, I agree.
Even if we get someone to take Mike's sword, we still have [i[Fidelaccius or however you spell it s well. I was so hoping that someone that one would go to Thomas, but with the new turn, that doesn't seem to be Butcher's plan. We're definitely getting into heavier and heavier hitters now, and although Harry is developing, we're not seeing those around him increasing their abilities in kind - Murphy, Thomas, even Mouse are the same as they were when they were first introduced, for the most part. That they haven't gotten killed yet is a wonder - Thomas at least has a well to tap into, Mouse his mystical nature, but Murphy has been some kind of lucky.
I think we need Elaine and
Susan back. And more Kincaid - did he retire from taking care of the Archive? Anyways, adding another sword burden before removing the former just made things all kinds of crazy.
's out now, by the way. Short story by not only Butcher, but Patricia Briggs as well (the Mercy Thompson and Omega novels are becoming a new fave). Buy it!
