Of course you're right but you always seem to have good suggestions.

Got done with Truck: A Love Story, now I'm deciding if I want to read Kiss the Girls by James Patterson or Catcher in the Rye next.

The same as the movie with Ashley Judd??
And Morgan Freeman?

I seldom read fiction except for the occasional scifi book. I do like true crime but don't read it much because it bothers me. For some reason I serial killer books.

That it is. I take it you have a crush on Ashley Judd and a man crush on Morgan Freeman?

I guess I'm the opposite of you when it comes to what I like to read - I mainly read fiction but in the past few years I've started reading non-fiction.

I think I'll read that one (Kiss the Girls that is).

Ashley is hot! and Morgan is a great actor, plus he's a Southern boy.

Nonfiction is just as entreating - and true!!

I did read Along Came a Spider first. The Alex Cross novels of Patterson's looked interesting and I wanted to start at the beginning with them - which I did. I liked it so I thought I would move on to the next book in the series (Kiss the Girls).

I've only read one book by Jodi Picoult, and that was Plain Truth. Wish I read that before I watched the movie version of it because they were so different and I thought the book was better.

Finished Kiss the Girls last night, it was a really thrilling read.

Today I started Gang Leader for a Day by Sudhir Venkatesh. It's about the time he spent as a Sociology graduate student researching urban poverty in Chicago and ultimately became friends with a leader of a gang who sold crack.

If you ever read the book Freakonomics, Venkatesh and his research was mentioned in it.

I've read both and "Gang Leader...' is a great book! Even in dealing drugs the little person makes the minimum wage, but the real value is the observation that the war on drugs is useless.

I just started a book about white slavery called "White Cargo: The forgotten history of Britain's White Slaves in America" by Don Kirkland and Michael Walsh

Indentured servitude was just a nice way of saying white slaves, in any case history has been so whitewashed about this it's amazing. Not all indentured servants were there by choice and servitude was the beginnings of slavery, black as well as white.

BP ummm, I mean Britain has never been kind to the America's or it's people. Or even it's very own people.

How did you like "Gang leader?"

I finished the Chelsea Handler book "My Horizontal Life" a few days ago.
It was OK but not ROTFL book that I wanted.

I'm about to finish, today maybe, the Howard Zinn book "You Can't be Neutral on a Moving Train." Set mostly in the late 50's and 1960's, I wish I had paid more attention to the events going on around me at the time.

I just discovered Zinn and will read some more of his history books.

I enjoyed it. You've got a point about the war on drugs, it seems to be useless, mainly because the dealers seem to find ways around the laws created to stop them.

Besides, arresting the dealers is like arresting the bartender. It's the big money boys that never get arrested.

Have you seen the documentary "American Drug War..." ? A great film and I strongly recommend it.
