I've been reading "Fahrenheit 451" for about a week. About 15 pages into it, guess you can say I've been reading it on the slow side.

I just finished "Who Goes There" by John W. Campbell. It's the novella that the movie "The Thing" was based on. Very tense read.

Today I finished the book The Siege of Mecca" by Yaroslav Trofimov.

It's about the takeover of the Grand Mosque in the city of Mecca by a very radical strain of Wahhabi religion which is a branch of Sunni fundamentalism. The leader of the Mosque takeover was Juhayman.

Finished a book about how dumb Americans can be called "Idiot America..." by Charles P. Pierce.

The three Great Premisses of Idiot America:"

!. Any theory is valid if it sells books, soaks up rating or otherwise moves units.

2. Anything can be true is someone says it loudly enough.

#. Fact is that which enough people believe. Truth is determined by how fervently they believe it.

My grandson gave me the book "ELVIS: The biography" by Jerry Hopkins; it's a rework of the two original books published in 1971 and the 1980 sequel. "ELVIS: The biography" is an excellent combination of the two and I'm really enjoying it.

Probably finish it tonight or tomorrow morning for sure.
