Here is a preview of the new layout +- of the frontpage, everything should be online begin march.

here is what the end result will be +-:
http://misc.tvrage.com/layout.pdf

Only some people have access to the Beta Site but for those who do, here is the URL
http://www.tvrage.com:8080/

don't mind the ad placements, they will be gone and less for logged in members.

This looks terribly busy to me. Terribly busy, yet it looks like there will be less information in the same space. Have people complained about the current layout? Or is it change for change's sake?

you're the first outt of dozens of people we asked actually who didn't like it, like i said the .pdf file just shows the colors, the ad placements just makes it look like there is less space they should be gone in the .pdf file, and the width of the layout 1000px so 200px wider allowing us to make information more userfriendly on show/person/episode pages and not only that the new layout's main purpose is to have the needed changes for Search Engine Optimization so we are able to rank higher with searches for shows and this is a middle step to the eventual complete recode of TVRage where there will be a lot more features added and much more interactive. there sadly will not be an option to turn back to the old layout but i can pretty much assure you that it will be to everyone's liking since it will basically be the same structure with more space and better colors. we did this intentionally so even the members who dislike it a lot will still be able to find things the same place where they use to be.

when the new recode is done there will probably be a feature where you can select out of several templates.
but since the recode can take up to a year, we thought to show people that we are still working on tvrage a middle layout change was the best thing todo for several reasons.

I find the white letters on the dark background hard on my eyes. In the Vote and Trailer sections there is a lot more space between the titles, which seems to indicate that there can be less information in the same space. Will there really be nothing about the forums or the Countdown of Favorite Shows on the front page? If the Countdown is taking up too much space, I could see limiting it, but it's too great a reminder to lose. And I would have thought TV Rage would want to encourage activity in the forums, not discourage it. It also seems like there's a lot of space being devoted to 2 shows. And what's going to be in that 336x280 Green Thumb space if members won't have the ad?

I don't think I ever found the front page terribly pretty, but I found it very useful. I don't come here for pretty, I come here for info - mostly to get, but sometimes to give. But I guess maybe my age is showing here.

I like it but these colors are not all good that dark red with black text is hard to see, maybe a little more colored just for my taste

I have "Countdown Favorite Shows" cjhtwo is it in the same plane and same shows …

I went to the beta site first and didn't like it (agree with the black text on dark red), but the PDF file looks nice.

I hadn't looked at the Beta Site link. I do like the layout much better, but not the colors. Especially the black on red, but even the others.

I would also have hoped that the new logo would have something to do with TV.

I disagree about it looking busy. I think where TVRage has always needed fixing was in it's crowded nature. In the past we've had way too many menu's on one page that have links to all the same things, as well as a ton of content all boxed in.

I think this layout breaths much, much better and isn't so overwhelming. Everyone who has access to the website AND the PDF, please make sure not to just look at the website, as it's still undergoing major work. Not that constructive criticism isn't welcome.

The server returned an internal error (500) when I tried for the site, but the PDF looks nice. Less cluttered than the current look and more modern. Maybe modern isn't the word I'm looking for, maybe fresher?

I agree. It looks more professional, too.

It all looks good to me,great choice of colours too.

There is too much info on the current front-page, this is an improvement IMO

Personally, it's bad... :-/

However, I've just found a twitter post about this - and was told that if I felt like finding an alternative I should ...

Would an alternative be considered?
