It is no secret the forums have been suffering, in the beginning there were massive posts, but now almost nothing. we have tried things in the past to try and boost the forum traffic but to no prevail.
so now we bring the floor to you, do any of you have suggestions on how we can increase the forum traffic to have a better community,
we have 80-90 000 visitors a day, so we should be able to get some of them to talk

There could be a Games forum with TV trivia, 6 Degrees & Baker's Dozen type games.

I know this is a TV site but maybe a Forum about Movies might spark some interest? Maybe have some Movie trailers as well?

Also in the TVRage Announcements - News Added section - Add the date in of the most recent reply for those of us who cannot keep track of the number of replys to see if anything new was added?

I think that the Recent Active Topics should be more prominent on the Front Page. At a minimum they should be separated. And maybe expanded.

And is there a better way to see the forums on the shows? It seems that on the Front Page we see the 10 most recent, and at the bottom of the Main Forums we see 5, but the Browse All TV Forums is more than a bit daunting. Can it be simplified?

When there are multiple pages to a topic, I think it would be easier if First & Last were the first 2 options. Then can be page 2. It's pretty daunting when you go to an active topic and you see how many pages there are before you can get to the most recent.

I'm confused because they all have numbers of how many pages there are in that topic and you can just click on the highest number and it takes you to the last page so maybe I do not understand what exactly that you are saying "cjhtwo"?

I mean once you're in the topic you click the drop-down Page menu in the upper-right. It starts with First, then the numbers, then at the bottom there's Last. There's always going to be the last number so I think it would be helpful to have it go First, Last, 1, 2, 3...45, 46. When people want to see what the topic is about they might want to start at the beginning, instead of going to the last page from the list of topics. This would make it very simple to go to the last page from anywhere within the topic.

Older members need to open up, new members tend to talk less if the forums look like a ghostland. Make more threads to drive discussion, make the forums more noticeable on the front page, also change the forums outlook. I have always found them to be a tad on the bland side. vBulletin costs money but looke nice, the more advanced versions.

I remember the good old days (2005/2006) where the forums used to be buzzing with activity. Now, they're like ghost towns. I agree with DeathIsARight. They should be displayed more prominently on the front page.

Yeah, displaying the forums more prominently might help, also clear out some of the rubbish.. there's a whole lotta crap in there. lol We all also could go around to a few other forums (networks and such) and see what's working on them to get more ideas.

TVRage forums functionality is the best out there, we were the first i think who had the link for new messages that still need to be read and link directly to it, but i agree about the layout.

i know we've been saying a while about a new layout, but we want it perfect this time so it tenders to everyone to the best we can so if that was a reason for less forum posts then that will hopefully help, we will make it more known throughout the website forum posting.


and i will let you in to a secret future feature that i wanted todo since the site started but budget was never there but it is starting, the point system was a sad thing that had to be taken over from tv.com since tvtome.com was based on people who just wanted to have guides full of info, but back then i then thought if we do have todo the point system to start it advantage could be taken of it, at some point in the future we will periodically "Auction" off merchandise and the points you earned are basically "cash" where you can bid and outbid other people, we will also make games to lose/gain points, i know by now other sites have already done this but they had the budget we didn't hopefully that will help regain and there are some other ideas that are still in motion for forum traffic that will still remain secret, but your input so far has been very useful thanks. keep it coming.

The biggest reason I stopped visiting the Forums unless I need something added or fixed is because of the STAFF! I have asked several different questions in the forums over the past 3 years and made several suggestions and about 95% of my posts here are never answered or commented on from a STAFF member and that gets very frustrating when it seems like you are being totally ignored. I see that this trend has continued today, as well and why would I want to use the Forums if I am being ignored? Sometimes all it needs is an acknowledgement that we have seen your request and it has been noted. Or we do not have an answer for you at this time but we will get back to you within the next 30-days. Also it is strange to me that not only STAFF seem to hardly ever reply or comment but the FORUM Admins don’t usually as well not sure if they are also considered STAFF or not?

If you do not wish to go though very old forums from 2008 and 2009 and want some examples I can provide those to you or anyone? One such suggestion I made at least 3 different times over 2 years is to have the SEARCH function also look for real birth names as it does not and that is how a lot of duplicates and triplicates are made in error! Not once did any STAFF member say 1 word about my suggestion even though a few members commented that they liked that idea as well.

it's no secret anymore cause of johnQ.public when he revealed in his forum i had drug problems; i took retalin in high doses and to code for 3-4 days without sleep and that went on for 3 years cause i just wanted to create more function while neglecting the community, being ignored in that period was nothing personal.

there might be a movie part yet, we have the domain filmrage.com but we feel tv still needs to be more completed before we add extra things, first the community needs to be bigger so there would be contributors for the movie submissions.
