Even tough the Staff members and crazed contributors and individual editors and non-attached submitters keep tvrage up to date with information to a high standard, we still would like more individual editors,
so we're asking members who know people to "recruit" friends who love tv as much as members here do and encourage them to take on one guide,
that way we will have more detailed guides and eventually we will have even more information then any sites out there, so thank you for those who are willing to help with this.

I'll see what I can do on MySpace and Facebook. I wish they would allow us to advertise on the network forums.

I make this comment with the knowledge that the site will be upgraded soon, but...

I brought a handful of people here from another site two years ago and the most common (and continued) complaints are:

1.) the layout is too complicated, making it difficult to figure out how to use, let alone contribute to guides and discover the other many great things available here to track & discuss shows

2.) it's too often difficult to access (I was denied access yesterday for most of the day) or just slow to load, making it frustrating to navigate

With respect, asking for more participation (even in just the forum) at this point in time seems premature -- until a new, simpler layout is in place and the site is faster to navigate, I cannot justify asking additional friends (or strangers) to spend more time here...

they're only going to point out the cracks in the foundation, the uneven floors, and the leaky faucets...

it's no secret that i have no design skill whatsoever, the basic design was done by an excellent designer, but then it was my job to build on it and kept adding functions and functions and for me everything is easy to find because i coded it of course and while i code i fail to think can other people find this easy to use or be able to access the information quickly,
but it had to be done this way since there was no budget for a long time so the structure of the website was all up to me and i failed, but now we do have a budget and the next version will be overseen by a designer step by step for userfriendlyness so we will hopefully get a design where everything fits in in a way where everything is easy to access, personaly i think the forums are my only success, the function to see how many posts are unread we were the first to have that on the net i think, could ofcourse be wrong. but i will not be involved in structurizing the next version so the result should be amazing and we will try to make it skinable with the intention to perhaps choose different styles, but thats still uncertain. i will not give you a deadline cause that failed miserably last time, but i believe it should be done before august.

just a few words about forum use (because you mention it in your post above)

Kudos to you for their design here at Rage, Seb, truly well-deserved.

I know websites often measure their success and impact based on forum activity...

...while it is a place where users can make connections with other like-minded folks, forums are also the place where feelings get hurt, grudges are developed, and dislikes and unpleasantness can compel users to leave a site completely.

Once burned at a different site, I now approach forums (at all sites) with extreme caution. And, I'd wager my two cents placed here that some others here would echo that sentiment.

I do love this site, with all it's current flaws, and I want to keep it that way...

I now return you to the subject of increasing contributions...

I wish to add a thank you to you Seb for all that you have done especially recently. I must say for me you have made this place a much more better place to visit and work. I say that because of your candidness and how talkative you can be in the Forums. Also how you speak or talk to us members as a whole is so much more refreshing then it use to be. I can say for sure in my own personal opinion that only 1 other STAFF member who is currently in a Black Hole I assume was always 100% nice, polite and respectful. Others had their bad days where they would either ignore you/us, give a snotty reply or just be downright rude at times. As you mentioned earlier JQP was the biggest and worst offender of this and I don’t remember him ever being nice or having a good day. It got to where I personally felt that he though he was GOD of Tvrage and that really turned me off, I was so happy to see him get booted.

Could someone put a TVRage page on Facebook?

because of facebook's big invasion of privacy throughout the net we decided not to have anything todo with them, we are working on including ourselves in twitter.

well shouldn't say we, never really been discussed with the staff, but i checked out there system in terms of privacy and i do not like it at all, last thing i want is to add something like "Do you like this page?" on every show / person page since facebook can share all that information with anyone they want for payment. so i do not want to support a website like that even tough not having a page there will not have an impact
but people are free to start a group on their own and try to get people to join, there will just be no links to it from tvrage, sorry about that.
