As you might or might not have noticed, lot of images are gone.
We had some technical difficulties, although we have been able to recover the entire database, unfortunately videos and images were not successfully recovered completely, this means that you will only notice gaps in images and trailers which we hope to have solved again, but it will take time.

The staff would like to apologize for all the inconvenience this has caused our users, we know a lot of your hard work have been lost, we are doing everything we can to get all the images back and steps are being taken to make sure this does not happen again, new hardware has just been purchased to strengthen our backup system.

We would also like to announce that a new layout is on it's way and hope to have it live next month www.tvrage.com:8080 you can see an unfinished version.

again we truly want to apologize for this and ensure this will never happen again.

TVRage Team.

Thank you very much for your email and for the link to your message. I will not leave just because the site has a hiccup, it just means there is more work for me to do is all.

If there is someway you can maybe run a report or something to get a list of shows and people that photos were lost on I would make it a priority to get them back here? I have to go to work now but please let me know if I can help in any way?

That's fine, I think most of us understand that every site has issues at times.

The timing is ironic. Tvaholic had embedded pictures in the recaps he did for Royal Pains, but the links were to an outside website. I downloaded the pics and moved them into the gallery for each episode and updated the recap so that everything would be on tvrage, fearing the images would disappear on the outside server. Ah, well....

I had just noticed this and ran right over here to the boards to make sure it wasn't just me (or rather my guide). As bad as it is, I'm just grateful that it was merely images, as I should still have all that I've submitted in my computer, rather than something that would have been very time-consuming to refill or extremely difficult to replicate.

So I did not break the Internets after all, it was not my fault. What a relief!!!

Now do we re-upload screenshots, or should they reappaer as by magic at a later time?

I lost a lot of pics, but I'm not really fussed - it happens. Gives me reason to actually make the effort to update the photos on my people guides.

Should I be putting the images to the Gallery and not in the recap themselves?

So, should we wait for a solution to restore the backuped images or re-upload the images?

Since we are talking about images and the new site, i just checked the new layout and noticed a problem with the images of the shows being used in the front page. Because the images already uploaded are currently limited to 320 pixels and the new layout uses 600 pixels images, they are resized to almost 4 times their sizes, so they look bad. Considering it's the first thing someone sees when they load the new site i think we should solve that, if possible, before the new site goes live. So i suggest increasing the size limit of the show images and asking everyone to get new bigger images asap for the shows currently running. I don't know if the current code can be changed, but if it can it should be simple. There are other problems like that with other images, but i think this is the most urgent one.

You can put them in the recap. It won't make any difference as far as the data being lost.

What I do is simply link the recap images to where I have them stored in photobucket. Fortunately, as otherwise they would have been lost entirely if I had relied on TVRage for storing them.

You can do both. Once you upload the images to the Gallery, click on them so they are full size, then right click and Copy Image Location (FireFox), or Copy image URL (Chrome).

Internet Explorer doesn't seem to have a simple way to grab the URL of the picture, but you can right click and select Properties, then copy the address from the popup window.

However, if you do that and the gallery data backup is somehow lost again, all of your recap images will be... well, lost again.
