Maybe a Blind version of the site. One for blind people. Maybe a deaf version too.,

Yeah it was and it's a bad idea, since some ppl would just rate episodes bad because they don't like the show. The blogs about the episode will somewhen displayed in the episode page. That seems to be fair enouhg

Blind version? What would that contain then? Embossed printing on the screen? *scnr*

No seriously I think with plain html and a good page structure like this the page is pretty good "machine readable" for the special browsers blind ppl use. Tough it would be good to know someone who uses those browsers and ask if he/she can naviagate the site and what can be done better

But what I really don't get is the deaf thing. What would that mean? No sounds on the page? Err. where are sounds anyway?

How about on user profiles, where it lists the the top five shows under "contributed the most to", maybe a link that will bring up a longer list, top 30 or something or the complete list of all shows contributed to.

Keeping the top five the way it is, just adding a link to the longer list.

I think it would be good to see, and won't clutter up the profile any more.

Thats why you come up with a scoring system kinda like IMDB.com's private system.. that balances the scores out. So people who do rate episodes a "1" just because they hate the show won't screw up the rating of the show.

A litle bit of math could make the rating system work perfectly.

Err I don't know the imdb blah. You suggest not to count the 1 ratings? Or not to count those from ppl who rate all episodes with 1? Either way only math won't bring you far on that.

The only thing that might work is to have only one rating: If the episode was good. Then the percentage could be calculated of those who thought the episode was good out of those who have watched the episode (My Episode History).

Well, in the beginning votes will be counted in a normal way, if someone votes 2/10 and someone else 10/10 it will be 6/10, but will keep track of all the votes so that in the future i can try and recalculated the votes and weed out the false votes or at least minimize their impact on the total score

Ok not from your writing, but I had an idea there. You could apply a bit more advanced math there... A propper vote (without tries to manipulate) would follow a normal distribution right?
Scenario:
  • 3x 1/10 (2 or 3 false)
  • 4x 2/10 (2 or 3 false)
  • 1x 3/10
  • 2x 4/10
  • 2x 5/10
  • 4x 6/10
  • 5x 7/10
  • 3x 8/10
  • 4x 9/10 (1 or 2 false)
  • 4x 10/10 (2 or 3 false)
It's not that complicated for a trained eye to catch the parameters of the propper normal distribution and so which votes have to be corrupt.

I don't think there are 'false votes'. You cannot nullify someone's score just because it is a one and you feel the show is a ten. Just as there are many people who may vote 1/10, there are just as many, if not more, that would vote 10/10. I think total votes should be counted and none rejected. Afterall, who will honestly watch or not watch a TV show based on these votes? ^o)

What about the idiots who create uderids just to vote for their favorite shows or against their enemy's faves? Those should be removable.

In regards to the upcoming ratings feature, maybe make use of the Episode History / Favourite Shows feature somehow, like only being able to rate episodes that you have marked as having seen, and shows which you have seen at least one episode of. Or something along those lines.

I just noticed that "Western" isn't an option for genre. I know there aren't really modern day westerns, but 40 years ago there were quite a few. It would be nice to have the option.

I'm not sure if this has been suggested, or would be possible, but maybe have a "new episodes for the week" schedule? Kind of like the front page has "What's New Today," we could have a page for "What's New This Week".

Maybe that's just the lack of sleep talking, though.

Actually, the schedule as it currently stands is only new episodes, period. So whenever you click the Schedule link, that does what you're asking for.

Poo. Well that link stayed hidden from me for a long time.

Thanks. ^o^
