I think it would be a smart idea for TVRage to jump on the smart phone/android app bandwagon. I don't believe there is one at the moment, but the application would basically be an application using the TVR site, giving you tv guides and whatnot, but on your phone.

A bunch of people who make apps are making TONS of money with stupid pointless apps, so I think if you put a price between $0.99-$5 USD, you would make a LOT of money. The price may be cheap, but it adds up, and not only would you make money, but it could give the site even more exposure.

I am pretty sure TV.com has an app, because my phone recommended it to me. I passed, obviously. I'm sure IMDb has an app as well.

we already had that in mind a long time ago, but budget is currently only focussed on www.tvrage.com:8080 the beta site, we had to switch coders 2 times, blae is now on the job and i am confidant he'll get it online ASAP, in the meanwhile dozens of applications already use http://services.tvrage.com so the information is already out there, but eventually we will make a unique application for android/iphone/windows phone 7 as well as a mobile site http://m.tvrage.Com

This could also be something that the community can make. A simple app that uses the TVR API should get you a good starting point.

Best to make it not only WinMobile 7, but also 6.5/6.1/6.0/5.0.

Not all use a new expensive phone with the latest o/s, nor switch every 3 months.

You don't change your tv-set every 3 months either.

I understand.

But.. The more I can save up on my phone, the more I could donate to the site

Thanks for the headsup and the positive upcoming features.

Have you guys seen the TV Rage Guide? It's no longer in the market, but the source is on Github and the APK is floating around on many websites.

It basically gives you the list of new shows on TV today. There are a few limitations in that if you choose a country other than the US (Canada & Australia supported,) it removes all the US shows, despite the fact that in Canada we get all the US channels. Also, you can only look at the data from the current day forward up to 7 days. There's no way to look back.

And, finally, there's no way to look at descriptions for episodes or click through to read show synopses.

I'd love to be able to add/update features, but the developer seems to have left the project to be picked up by others.

I would really like to see my TV Rage Calendar on my Droid somehow! So this app would be awesome. Is there anything similar?

I still think an OFFICIAL (I know there are a few apps that use the TVRage site in one way or another) app would be really awesome. Charging just a low price of 99 cents USD - 1000 download translates into a nice $1000 dollars. Lots of apps charge more than that, and it would be an easy way to make money.

App developing is a big profitable area these days - this guy made half a million dollars in just one month with this iPhone app and there are tons of similar stories of people making stupid pointless apps and raking it tons of money.

Hi

We made a free app called ShowTimes for Android, as a school project, using the tvrage api.

You can get it here
https://market.android.com/details?id=antdevs.com&feature=search_result

Features:

- Detailed info about all seasons and episodes for show
- Widget displaying shows for: today, tomorrow and yesterday.
- Extra features by longpressing shows on list
- Save to Calendar
- Backup all your shows to SD Card

Powered by TVRage

Hope you like it. Any feedback is welcome.

Best regards
Mikael

NB. Hope it is ok linking to our app, otherwise I will edit my post accordingly.

NBB. The new TvRage layout is awesome.

Hey, huge fan of the site here :-)

Although there's already lots of tv calendar apps on the market, most are for thetvdb, which really annoys me since tvrage almost always has better listings and a bigger community. Please check out my android app here:

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tappir.android

I created my own little web service to hone my coding skills, which keep tracks of added shows and which you've watched, since the tvrage api does not support this sort of stuff afaik.

Once again, great work guys for providing this awesome site!
