Gidget is a one-season color sitcom from the mid-sixties starring Sally Field and Don Porter. Field plays Frances "Gidget" Lawrence, a 15 year old surfer girl while Porter plays Russell Lawrence, her UCLA English professor father. The show follows Gidget's adventures in high school, at home, and on the beaches of southern California. Mr. Lawrence has much ado guiding his daughter through her surf loving, boy crazy teenage years while Gidget's older married sister Anne and her goofy husband John offer advice and counsel. Gidget's gawky school pal and confidante Larue is often an accomplice in her zany escapades. The entire series is available on DVD.
