Subaru, voiced by Kim Mai Guest
Subaru starts off as the leader of the Crimson Knights. They are an organization fighting injustice in “the world”. Eventually, Subaru feels that the Crimson Knights have attempted to push their powers too far, and after a heated argument with Silver Knight, she disbands the Crimson Knights.
Subaru feels a strong connection over Tsukasa, and though they only meet once until late into the anime, they are immediately attracted to one another. In the end she refuses to leave his side, even after facing off against Morgana herself.
In the real world, Subaru is confined to a wheelchair after losing the ability walk, presumably from an accident, 4 years prior to the storyline. Subaru, in the game, is a very orderly character who likes to handle responsibility. Because of this, she has friends in high places, and these friends are very over-protective of her. The three main characters who look over Subaru are Silver Knight, Crim, and Balmung of the Azure Sky. Because of all of her duties in “the world” and these strong characters looking after her, Subaru, though a heavy axe, is a fairly low weak, low level, character.
In the ending sequence, Subaru meets Tsukasa as she walks out of the hospital.
NOTE: In the manga, Tsukasa and Subaru end up loving each other. This was changed for the anime as it didn’t want to bring in homosexual relationships into play.
