(Clara offers Jim a ride home, then locks him out while she calls her mom)
Clara: Hi mom. Yeah. I think it went well, but um, I met this guy at my audition and he seems like a nice guy, so I'm going to give him a ride home. But, if I get murdered or raped (Jim, surprised, gets close to the window) or anything, his name is Jim Jefferies. Yeah, so if you don't hear from me in an hour assume something bad happened to me and call the cops. (All smiles) Okay we're all good. (opens his door) Get in. Get in.
(Jim breaks the silence in the car)
Jim: You've just made this rape really awkward.
(Jim and Steve drive to a strip club)
Steve: Hi Georgia. I'm sorry about that last message. I was angry. I'm still angry, actually, because you're taking my daughter all the way to Ohio for shit's sake and I've got nothing to say about it. So, please call me back when you get this. Thank you.
Jim: How is that anymore effective than the last call.
Steve:(Redials) Georgia I hope you and Todd die in a fiery car wreck on your wedding night! Eat shit!
Jim: That one I like.
(Jim defends himself)
Jim: Everything in the world is funny. You can make jokes about everything. And rape is under the umberella of everything. She asked for the joke, not the rape...I didn't... she didn't ask to be raped. I didn't rape her, because rape is a bad thing... but it's okay to joke about things. You see, it's the actual doing motion that people don't like. Categorically I've never raped. I would not rape (points to Karla) this wo... Not that you're unrapable. You're a very attractive girl and any rapist would be proud to make you a victim.
Karla: You bastard!
Jim: You bitch!
(The whole room gasps)
(Jim tries to soften the misunderstanding by having Neil relate to it)
Jim: We were out at a gay club, because Neil's a gay man. My friend wanted to have some coke and Neil wanted to have some cock. And you can see already where the confusion is going to come.
(Jim moves closer to Steve to support him)
Steve: you think I did the right thing?
Jim: Well... Lets put it this way. I couldn't have done it, so I'm going to say yeah. You're doing the right thing.
