Fabio delves into production meetings and a cooking class; Richard discovers problems with his staff and his cooks; Spike works on his bistro concept but deals with family interference; and Jen networks at a festival.
Richard encounters an old rival when interviewing chefs. Meanwhile, Spike journeys to Canada for a family wedding, yet his mother fumes when he arrives late; Jen prepares for a baseball-theme charity event; and Fabio's mother pays a visit and gives him pointers on how he should live his life.
A rattled Richard hosts a menu tasting for his choosy partners. Meanwhile, Fabio hopes to tap into his own martini product, and Spike and Jen finish their road trip with some oyster farming. Later, Spike scouts for a bistro location, and Jen tries to impress investors.
Spike and his family race to open their eatery. Elsewhere, Jen helps Fabio cater a lavish charity event, but Fabio fumes when his sous chef arrives two hours late. Also: Richard tests his chefs' cooking skills.

In the Season 1 finale, Richard opens his dream restaurant but must overcome obstacles; Spike scrambles to launch his eatery; and Jen treats her mother to a salon trip. Later, the four chefs are enlisted to create a meal for First Lady Michelle Obama.
