Episode Quotes
Pappyism: The two greatest evils are hard liquor and hard work.

Belle: I wasn't even sure that there was something wrong with your hand.
Bart: You weren't?
Belle: And you know, I'm still not sure.

Belle: You can see farther in Texas, Colonel Maverick, but you can't see as much.

Bart: I rarely bluff.

Bart: I have to leave sometime.
Belle: Why?
Bart: Because I wouldn't have any fun playing prince consort in this queendom of yours.

Bart: I promised pappy I wouldn't wed until I was 38.
Belle: That's good. I promised myself I wouldn't marry again at all.

Bart: You can't impound my money. It's illegal.
Belle: Probably but it'll take you a year in court to prove it.
Bart: You play a real mean game, Belle.

Stafford: (to Bart) Son, someone has taken rank advantage of your ignorance.

Belle: I said your money will be returned to you.
Bart: It's too late, Belle. You dealt the hand now I'm gonna play it out.

Belle: Why, Colonel Maverick, what a surprise? Are we both going to New Orleans?
Bart: We certainly are.

Bart is a little bit nastier than usual in his dealings with a female as he uses a rich widow as his ticket into a high stakes poker game and lives to regret it when she discovers his game. Then she lives to regret it when her revenge gets turned around on her. But, as was the case with most episodes, there's a happy ending and a bit of a reconciliation at the end between Bart and the widow. Nice performance by Julie Adams as the widow.
