Twins Kelly and Derek (18) are working as lifeguards at the beach when a couple who were thrown from their boat wash ashore. They managed to rescue them, but then the unmanned boat comes crashing into the pier injuring Kelly and Derek.
A giant sinkhole at a construction site injures several of the crew, but leaves one member, Joe, pinned under debris, unable to get out. While Zambrano and Proctor work on their patients in MT1, Dr C. heads to the construction site to amputate Joe’s leg so he can be removed. Dr. C’s trying to impress Proctor before his review, but he was specifically told not to go because he’s at the end of a 36 hour shift.
A school bus crashing in the everglades brings two patients into MT1. Lori, the teacher, was thrown from the bus into the water. Dr. C treats her but has a difficult time isolating what is causing her bizarre and unrelated symptoms. Ben, a 15-year-old art student, has been decapitated internally -- his spine is disconnected from his skull. Zambrano brings in a top Neurosurgeon who, not so coincidentally chairs the grant committee Zambrano has applied for.
