Lafayette and Ty'Ree decide to throw Charlie (who is going to be released from juvenile soon) a suprise party. Once they have the party, he is angry about it, and tells everyone to leave.
It's time for Charlie to go back to school, but he refuses, so Ty'Ree forces him to go. Charlie attempts to pretend to go to school, but is caught, and sent off to school once again. While there, Charlie sees how far behind he is.
To impress some kids at school, Lafayette has a party at his house when Ty'Ree and Charlie are out. When the kids show up, they have beer with them, and they pressure Lafayette into drinking. Meanwhile, Ty'Ree is out drinking along with some friends, and gets drunk. While walking home, Charlie sees Ty'Ree--who's completely drunk by now, shouting outside--and takes him back to their house. When Ty'Ree gets back to their house, he believes that Charlie put Lafayette up to having a party, which causes a conflict. At a bad time, it seems, since Social Services are coming to do an inspection around the apartment, and if it isn't up to par, then they'll be split up!
Charlie is getting really good at playing his guitar, even his friends are praising him for it. One of his friends suggests that he perform at a club on "Open Mic Night", after you perform, if they like you, you pay $100 to perform, again, and they pay you. Charlie likes this idea, and wants to take the money from the savings, but Ty'Ree refuses.
The pipes at school burst, so everyone has a Free Day at school. Lafayette is pressured to ask Angelina out, but he's nervous of what her answer may be. Angelina, on the other hand, is trying to get a date with Charlie, who finally tells her that she's too young for him. Angelina, hurt by Charlie's remark, runs off. Lafayette gets angry, and tells off Charlie, causing Charlie to run away from home.
Lafayette and Ty'Ree try to get Charlie back; but can't find him. Charlie is staying with a friend who takes Charlie over his friend's house. They play some video games, where Charlie is repeatedly victorious, so Fix decides to "get some new games." Charlie is unaware that Fix and his friend are planning to do a heist on a local electronics shop. Charlie leaves as soon as he knows what's about to happen, but is still scared to go home. When he sees Lafayette's great play in baseball, he decides to go home, but he's arrested for being an accomplice.
